If it makes you feel better I did not go out this morning... :)

But I am about to go body surfing ... it will be quick.. .the water is ****ing cold.

I've been rinsing off in cold water only after taking luke-warm showers since I was about 15, Bhodi. You want cold?. Try turning off all of the hot water here in Colorado this time of the year, where the water is literally ice cold. This time of year it almost stings....and then there is the serious 'shrinkage' issue!

It's a caregiver thing for me, Chomsky, and the hours I keep. Although, I've always enjoyed the solitude of the night and the sky gazing here in Colo., due to the low humidity and no mosquitoes.
Excellent choice of words in "solitude".

The dead middle of the night on weekdays was the only time you had quiet in the city, even in your house or apartment. You're constantly bombarded. Even if it's not unusually loud inside your residence, you're still aware of a constant active din occurring outside.

So in the middle of the night, there sometimes was this joyous quiet, so deep you felt literally 'alone in the world', which is something you never felt in the city!

So back to 'solitude'. I've always enjoyed creative pursuits like writing and playing/creating music, as well as being an avid reader. There is just something about the creativity that comes out of the quiet solitude found in the middle of the night. It's like you can hear your inner soul speak. It's hard to hear that voice under the day's distraction.

I think Randy Bachman said it best in "Blue Collar", from the debut Bachman-Turner Overdrive album:

--

Sleep your sleep
I'm awake and alive
I keep late hours
You're nine to five

So I would like you know I need the quiet hours
To create in this world of mine

--

Man, when I heard those lines I knew exactly what he was talking about!

Very well spoken, as usual, my friend. You truly are one of the gems here at DP. I think all would agree on that. Please stay safe, and all the best to you and yours. :peace

As a surfer who used to surf up into NorCal and Oregon I am sure that I felt that kind of cold water... low 50's... but at least I was surfing... not standing in shower.

I take cold showers for about 7 months of the year... during Winter I fold and take warm showers for a bit and the nice long hot showers for a month or two... starting soon.

Exactly! I've seen that movie at least 4 or 5 times.

Great flick... and perhaps it is because it is from a woman's point of view (as opposed to most male dominated action flicks) but seems to balance the idea of space exploration and time nicely.

Chom is great... not a sucker and a truly nice guy... I wish both of you the best and please, stay safe.
