If you really wanna hoard your eggs, then pickle them like what they did in the olden days...

Oooff. I hate fish. I'm one with an iron gut too. Rarely any issues, no matter what I eat. Except fish. Don't like rubbery meat.

The fish was in a Fish Burrito... so lots of beans, salsa, hot sauce, etc. as well. But it was pretty bad. I had to be tough guy and say it was all good. The next day I was having diarrhea.

Yeech, thats like Chinese century eggs. Hate those. In fact I hate hardboiled eggs in general. I avoid them like the plague.

No disrespect,

How dare you!!

but in the time of this thread you could have tossed them & got another dozen. Unless, coronavirus?

Corona Virus... that was kinda the thought. We are not supposed to go out AT ALL here except for need. I have eggs that I think will turn out to be fine. But I was thinking... should I go to the store? I eat hard-boiled eggs for breakfast most days (just one or two) along with a small fruit/veggie smoothy... then I drink juice the rest of the day til dinner. That is after my 5:03 am til 6:45-ish am walk (4k's)/run hills (10 hills)/bike morning work-out. I added biking 5k's this morning. Sucked... But I figured... what the hell else am I supposed to do? Sit around watching Sports Center all day?

❓I think that you can freeze eggs ...

I found out that freezing egg whites or yolks can last a year frozen... as long as they are out of the shell and in a good container.

One of the few post EVER to make me go... Ooooh... with a retarded facial expression. That is a great idea and only wish that I captured my idiotic expression with a picture. I will look into that. Thanks.

And I have an Iron Gut... even when I made fish that was way past (my smell sucks) and some of the staff said it was bad and I ate it, I only had a day or two of stomach discomfort... which really wasn't even that bad. They threw away the microwave and bought a new one because it smelled so bad.

Most people will survive eating spoiled food. However it is the deadly food that you cannot smell. Refrigerated food usually will spoil. Room temperature will kill.

Geez. Better you than me, Bodhi!

When I used to run, I hated morning runs. Ruined my day. I loved running at night, at the end of my day. But I must be the minority, because my neighborhood is filled with early morning joggers!

I take my walks around 2AM, Chomsky. It's a nice, safe, gated community, and here in Colorado, with the low humidity, the stars and the moon ( when it's out ) are absolutely gorgeous. And I can locate the space station, and think what the folks up there are looking at from their vantage point. Unfortunately, my best buddy Kookie, my beloved 14 year old border collie, can no longer go with me, so she eagerly awaits my return at the the top of the stairs upon return.

I thought you did that expression all the time... ;)

They don't end up hard boiled really but they will separate. Good for baking. Others have their own pluses and minuses. Some people will coat the shells with butter to extend the shelf-life. Others have been known to pack eggs or other things in grease and seal in a jar. Air is the biggest enemy of food storage usually. I recall seeing a thing about ancient food preservation in which they packed food into holes in the ground and then basically covered it with densely packed foliage. The food on the top bottoms or sides might go bad but the food in the center would stay edible.

i have used this site for reference in the past :

How Long Do Raw Eggs Last in the Fridge or Freezer?

basically, though, i still toss the eggs two weeks after the sell by date. i don't need Salmonella or any necessary hospital visit at this point or at any other, and i can wait to have egg salad if i need to.

Wow

Damn I been keeping my eggs like 3 weeks I live alone so half dozen will sit in the fridge unless I get urge Thanks!!

Three weeks isn't the end of the world. Usually, at least. A lot of things feel like the end of the world lately.

To be honest I rarely look at dates on eggs, often the date is printed according to Muslim calender. I just toss them after three weeks.

Thought I would check DP before heading out. 5:02 am right now.

Farmin secrets, I guess.

Chickens are kinda cool to have around but in reality they are not those cute cuddly little fuzz balls you buy around Easter.

They are basically little Velociraptors...

You got that straight, the only good chicken is one on my plate. They are very much like ducks, they deserve to live miserably and die horribly. I suspect that many asshats have been reincarnated as chickens and ducks multiple times.

I dont know how cold people keep their refrigerators but I keep mine at about 36f. I keep my eggs for more than 3 weeks easy. I just check to see if they float. If they do then they dog or cat food otherwise deviled eggs, older eggs are easier to peel.

Eggs freeze well, though not in shell. Just scramble and freeze. When using, 5 eggs to the cup, not quite a quarter cup each.

It's all relative. A chicken is an eggs way of making more eggs.
