I like corks, real corks are appreciated.

I like a little ritual, I like a little work, I like to put on a show.

As Sangria is always screw cap, that's my vote.

Corks or screw caps for the wine bottles?

What do you prefer?

The Aussies originally started using screw caps because they were producing a wine that didn't have to rest or breathe as long as more traditional cork capped wines so it's not so much "cork" vs "screw cap" as rest or drink straight away really. new thinking in Australia is that screw caps are best used on wines intended for drinking while still young )between 1-5 years)

The failure rate on corks totally sucks.
Are you talking just natural cork or synthetics? And is it taint or the fact they fall apart when you open the bottle? The nice thing about synthetics is, they don't fall apart when you open the bottle.

I'm not a wine snob, but I am opinionated. ;) I am fine with synthetic corks for most wines, those that are not going to be cellared more than five years. I have discovered, though, I can't drink it that fast! So, I appreciate cork because it works better for longer storage. I lose a couple of bottles a year from cork taint, though, so you are right about failure. Especially when you've been waiting for a bottle to mature! That can be really expensive.

Boxes?
I do not speak of boxes, but of bottles.

Of course one can drink one's wine also from a pig trough.
Then one does not need any corks or screw caps.
Fine oak aging... ;)

I do not like corks.
And I hate it especially, if you cannot get at the cork before removing some stupid plastic.
That's why I do not like wine bottles from France.

Some info:

Why should you prefer the screw cap over other types of wine stoppers?

Although many people think that wines sealed with screwcaps tend to be of poor quality, cheap or that their taste will not be ideal, we must say that they are wrong.

Because although the screw cap is one of the new alternatives that have recently arrived for sealing wine, this does not mean that the quality of the wines decreases when using it, on the contrary, it has much to offer to the range of young wines and wines that are not to be matured in bottle.

But what are the advantages of the screw cap?

excellent question! The screw cap has many advantages to offer, beyond being a practical alternative that extends the shelf life of uncorked bottles. Some of these benefits are as follows:

Seals the bottle tightly
