What kind of wine did you have lately?

May I introduce the Regent again, a more or less new grape variety?

Regent is a dark-skinned inter-specific hybrid grape variety, used for making wine.

It has both European (Vitis vinifera) and American vine species in its pedigree and a broad resistance against the most significant fungal diseases which affect grapes, such as downy mildew.

We are having a Spätburgunder Weißherbst = a Pinot Noir Rosé now :)

Now we are having a Spätburgunder Rotwein = Pinot Noir Red
From the Markgräflerland in Baden, Germany.

I am not into dry reds, since they tend to be harsh unless you spend more money than I am willing. That said, I found a misbinned 2006 cab-sav from my part of Texas. As it was (still) under $10 I tried it. The vineyard is Becker and the wine is called Iconoclast. Maybe it was the 10+ years of aging. Maybe it was a really good year. It's probably worth noting that it had plenty of time to breath.

In any event, it was nice. Very smooth for a cab, fruitier than most.

I had a regional Spätburgunder = Pinot Noir once again. :peace

Last night my wife and I killed a bottle of William Heritage 2016 Estate Reserve Vintage Brut, from New Jersey, a citrus and apple flavored sparkling wine. I had a glass, she murdered the rest. Three cups of coffee this morning and she's still having trouble standing upright. Of course I'm instigating the grandkids to be louder and rowdier than usual. :)

Gnarly Head Zin, a California red. My wife likes it - a lot.

I had a glass but then mixed a couple of Bronx Cocktails. We’re trying different Quarantinis. I’m generally a Manhattan guy or straight rye. If my wife has a glass of wine I’ll have a glass.

Jackson Triggs. It's our everyday wine - my tummy agrees with it. I'm sensitive to acid reflux/heartburn.

At present I enjoy Müllert-Thurgau = RieslingxSilvaner = Rivaner :peace

We enjoyed a Gewürztraminer.

I am sure somebody had some wine somewhere lately.

What I had the other day was a Blanc de Noir - a white wine made from a Pinot Noir.
Something special.
Though I do not see the need to make red wine into white wine.

In my case it was a mulled wine at one of the Christmas Markets here.

Apart from that I had a fine local Pinot Noir - or Spätburgunder.

Gerwutztraminner (Reisling). That's my fave.
Had it with fish and shrimps.
It's hubby who knows more about wine - I don't drink often even when he have them.

Gluwein, the missus’ favorite. She has mugs from many markets. I am not a wine drinker, but gluwein and the Christmas market ambiance is compelling.....

Sounds like my wife. She has mugs from damn near every Christmas market in Germany and Austria. She loves gluwein. I think it tastes like the inside of a dog’s butt.

Any type of hot drink containing alcohol is my idea of nasty.

Gewürztraminer is one of my favourite grapes!
And as it is, we had a Traminer for Easter Sunday today, a close relative of the lovely Gewürztraminer!

Whatever you may say or think: A good Glühwein is delicious!
It is a wine with some fine spices in it.
And it used to be a lot more expensive than normal wine.

Unfortunately it has become a kind of fashion to make fun of Glühwein - probably by those who never had a fine Glühwein.

Three cheers for a fine Glühwein! (y) (y) (y)
And it is also lovely when cold! :)
It is the spices in it that make it delicious - not so much the temperature. :)

I have enjoyed a fine Rosé (Spätburgunder Weißherbst) from the region of Baden, Germany :)

Right now I am enjoying some Spanish wine.
White wine from the Rioja region - for a change.

I have this open for Happy Hour (starting in 30 minutes). The Antinori Family has been making wine in Tuscany since 1385, and they're pretty good at it.

My brother has the same issue... but he found a Chilean cabernet savignon (Casillero del Diablo) that doesn't give him problems.

Casillero del Diablo = the devil's treasure chamber!
In this case meant as a compliment!
