Impossible Burger

What is the attraction of the Whopper substitute?

Meat Whopper................677 calories
Impossible Whopper........630 calories

Just that it is not made from a cow?

For me, yes. I reached a point where I could no longer separate the big mac from the cow. The meat substitutes are getting better, and I was already eating them, so it wasn't that much of a sacrifice.

OK, since you bring it up, my secretary sits in a dark office with just an old fashioned table lamp. She likes it that way but when clients comment on it I tell them that I give her the choice of air conditioning or light, she can't have both.

:lamo Wait, she gets a table lamp AND air conditioning? When did you become such a communist?

I just picked up a regular Whopper and an Impossible Whopper. I cut both burgers in quarters and gave a section of each to my secretary. She sniffed them and picked the Impossible burger right away but when she tried them she really had a hard time telling the difference. I couldn't really tell much of a difference by smell (but my sniffer isn't all that great to begin with) but could taste a slight difference. The Impossible burger can easily pass for meat but it's isn't exactly a beef taste.

I took the other sections to one of the other offices in my complex and and the first one to try them guessed wrong. The other guy was just happy I brought burgers and chowed down!

Bottom line, with all the condiments it's hard to tell which is which. Leave off the condiments and it's a lot easier but the difference is MUCH more subtle than, for example, the difference between real Coke and Coke Zero.

I've gotta try one. I have been intrigued for a while.

Do other bosses force their secretaries like this? Making them smell food and eat unhealthy products?

I know one boss who makes them smell worse things...

FYI impossible burgers or beyond meat are not good for you. Maybe they taste like regular meat and are slightly healthier but I would not consider these fake meats healthy options.

I guess a small step in the right direction though

It is something new. This is what I call a millennial fad movement. Millennials are not imo interested in eating less or eating healthy. They are interested in eating more "fresh" foods or foods where they know where the ingredients come from.
