I'm dating this woman, who is a vegan, and she's introducing me to all-veggie dishes. The problem is that I'm getting diarrhea from it. Should I continue eating this way or could it be something else?

lol...good grief, POS. This feels like it belongs in the "figure it out yourself" bucket...as fascinating as your bowel movements are.

Could be due to dating a vegan, I hear they give you the ****s. The forced conformance and excessive indoctrination could be as bad as the rutabaga / tofu / anal fungus "drumsticks" she's giving you.

LOL her indoctrinations arent working since I will always eat meat. I only eat vegan when she cooks at her place for appearances sake, though it is kind of worrying since loose stools are a sign of infection, but it only seems to happen when I eat purely vegetarian meals so I'm wondering what I can do to alleviate it.

Alright, PoS, let's talk about poop.

I've recently gone through something somewhat similar - not veganism, good grief, but certainly a deliberate effort to put a lot more veg in my meals to decrease the size of my ass. The first few weeks were hell...I swear I actually lifted off the toilet seat a few times, propelled upwards by trots that could put out a house fire.

Then it got a bit better...now it's not really a problem.

If you were eating mostly meat and carbs before, bringing in a crap ton of veg will put your body on tilt for a bit. It will get better over time. In the meantime, keep some Imodium around, and work in carbs to hold your guts together - rice, potatoes, bread, that kind of thing.

Careful, though...too long in this pattern will produce the results you're complaining about in a few months, but this time it'll come from eating a steak. I know we've had our issues in the past, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. ;)

Maybe your body is not used to having so much fiber.

Tell her to ease you into it. Eat a little bit of protein and animal fats along with the veggies.

Fiber and food tolerance... it all comes down to what your system is becoming sensitive to in relation to the source and amount of fiber you are getting now from a vegan diet. Your system is having to deal with change and often that comes with consequences in the short term and long term. The good news is once you are done adjusting you should feel better.

With the exception of one area... watch out for a sudden drop in b12. Our usual source for that is animal based foods. Without that, and once you are done sprinting for the toilet, you could end up with weakness and fatigue if there is not a good alternative source.

Its strange because I normally eat a high fiber diet. All the bread in the house is whole wheat, and even the pasta I eat is whole wheat too.

Keep some beef jerky hidden and some Tic Tac's
Yeah now this is a good idea. I'll probably grab a ham or tuna sandwich before I go to her house or we eat out- that way my bowels will be adjusted beforehand.

Oh....hell no.

Tell her you want her to try wild tofu beast and feed her a 5 lb porterhouse steak.

So what you're saying is: Veganism is a bunch of crap. Good show!

No, I'm asking for advice on how to deal with side effects from that diet.

We're talking about diet types, which falls under the subject of food...
