Clementines and W. Murcott mandarins, often sold bags, exploding in popularity, kids especially like them.....

We seem to like our food shrunk now, they have that going on. They are the prefect size for throwing. They smell good when you peel them so it is a five senses experience. They are easier to peel than an orange ...what else....what does it for you?

Hmmm...I can see where they'd be perfect for throwing.

Personally, I'm not a fan of eating them, though. They always seem a little on the dry side. Maybe I just got bad ones.

Easy to carry, good snack.

My wife and daughter love them......the favorite go to snack for the ladies in our home; They will usually bring home two bags, and save the peels for infusing essential oils

My son? Not so much....he likes dehydrated banana chips. :2sick1: ....'nanners are just plain icky to me.

they're also a lot sweeter/milder and have a lower acidity than oranges, which matters for people with certain stomach issues. They get fairly cheap at a certain time of year and we always go through a few bags/boxes.

Pretty much everything you mentioned, plus they taste good.

A fad? Maybe in your part of the country. I've been buying and eating them for years here in Colorado.

The grandkids love them but don't them they're good for throwing. ;)

They're usually everywhere around Christmas up here. I like them better than oranges, which I don't eat. The flavor is a lot better, the juice is awesome (mandarin screwdrivers...nom), and being smaller they make a better snack. Oranges just have too much orange to them. hehe :)

I just got a whole pile of fresh mandarins...gotta eat them, I still have blood oranges on my tree and it is already blooming.

I really like the blood orange, it is sweet, but not in an overly way. If you squeeze a wedge of it in your Blue Moon beer, it is awesome, but looks disgusting.

If you can get your hands on fresh calamondins, get them, they are tiny, pick them, and squeeze it into your mouth, instant jolt of amazing.
