Do you have a special dish you prepare for holiday gatherings not at your home?

I have two that are always requested by my family but both need to be finished at that relatives home. That’s really never a problem because the final steps of our holiday meals are always a team effort.

The first is a baked stuffed shrimp appetizer, I kick it up a level with adding a sliced sea scollop to the split shrimp before adding the stuffing, I also make my own cocktail sauce for this.

The second would be a satay dipping platter as an appetizer ( thin sliced beef, chicken and shrimp on bamboo skewers). If a BBQ grill is available this always goes over well. I make the traditional peanut dipping sauce but also make a sweet chili red sauce for dipping.

What dish do you bring?

I usually get asked to bring wine. When I first started I would always buy the most expensive stuff, but then I realized people just didnt seem to notice the difference and would actually complement me when I bought the cheap stuff- provided I get rid of the price tag- so thats what I do nowadays.

What do you mean by "dish"?

My potato casserole with cheese, onions, and cream of celery soup and my better than sex pie, with crescent rolls, blueberry pie filling, cream cheese, and powdered sugar icing...

What dish do you bring?

I bring the New Mexican style enchiladas and or my lasagna.

Nah, I'm usually the one who does the majority of the cooking, so everybody comes to my house.

I love it. <3

Also, because I slave away at the stove for 3 days, after we eat, I don't have to do dishes! BONUS!

But I do have certain things that my family wants me to make every year. My daughter wants a concoction called ham rolls, my other daughter wants stuffed mushrooms and my husband wants pumpkin pie.

What dish do you bring?

I usually bring large shrimp with cocktail sauce. Not this Thanksgiving, though. Small gathering and several don’t like it.

we generally bring casseroles / cookies.

What kind of ham rolls?

My potato casserole with cheese, onions, and cream of celery soup and my better than sex pie, with crescent rolls, blueberry pie filling, cream cheese, and powdered sugar icing...

OK, the recipe for better than sex pie????? Should'nt the name be "Better than great sex pie"?

Bring? we cook for between 50 and 100 people.

We bring whatever is asked for. Turkey, side dish, drinks...a gift for the hostess is always included.

I've made these things for like 30 years. The filling is sour cream, cream cheese, chives and bacon bits. Spread across the ham, rolled up and sliced in bite-sized pieces.

Amazing.

Sounds tasty but it seems to be a heart attack waiting to happen! How do you keep the sour cream from running over?

I am definitely going to have to try those.

they are really good. This is the thing, though. The best way to make them is to use the rectangular slices of ham because it's easier to fill and roll without having the filling all over the place, and to buy the rectangular slices, you can't get really good ham.

Never have a heart attack on a holiday. The best ER staffing is out celebrating, same with the cardiology staff. :)

There are similar hams from Italy and France, and just as expensive, sometimes more so. There are wonderful sources for great hams, including domestic American. One need only know where to look. Like for real Black Forest from Germany.

Never say never. America is a can do country.

If you like it spicy, try tortilla, ham, a mixture of cream cheese and hot salsa.

Pizza. People think I make the best. I thank Pizza Hut.

I am sure it is great but scallops deserve to be highlighted... it seems like it would be lost stuffed into a prawn. Are you able to maintain its profile or does it add to the stuffing?
