The Telegraph said:
Low-fat diets could raise the risk of early death by almost one quarter, a major study has found.
The Lancet study of 135,000 adults found those who cut back on fats had far shorter lives than those enjoying plenty of butter, cheese and meats.
Researchers said the study was at odds with repeated health advice to cut down on fats.

Low-fat diet could kill you, major study shows

This has been known for years among many nutritionists and health experts. Sugar raises inflammation and is quickly converted into body fat. Fat, on the other hand, is a superior energy source, is slower to digest, and produces no inflammation.

Are doctors finally going to give up the "low fat" diet advice and give people good advice that will keep them healthy?

I think most doctors are already giving out this advice. Most people I know that have talked to their doctors about nutrition get told to cut the sugar and increase healthy fats, don't consume low fat products etc.

My daughter's doctor was surprised that we drink whole milk, and encouraged us to do so, as he does it himself. I remember my own pediatrician when I was young telling me that I should be drinking no more than 1% milk.

How long has it been since you've seen a pediatrician? I'm guessing quite a while.

And as far as drinking 1% milk, I see no problem with it since no one is adding sugar to make up for the lower fat content. But like I said, I think most doctors and nutritionists have gotten this memo and are increasingly on board.

That was probably around 15 years ago now.

I hope that's true, because we're still a very fat nation with a high rate of cardiovascular disease.

Everything is good as long as it is moderate in consumption. If you lack sugar, this can ruin your body's energy. It will drain your other source of energy. Sugar is important in our life, but many people do not know how to moderately ingest this since sugar in its form is addicting.

Pretty sure skim/1%/2% milk typically does have some added sugar. Check the carb contents next time you compare!

I don't think that's true.

Better question....Why have "The Experts" been pushing low-fat eating for 40 years, claiming to be sure that it was a good idea, if it is actually as it is now finally clear a bad idea?

This gets into my argument that the Elite Class Sucks.

Were they just totally wrong?

Or did they know and passed along malicious advice?

Who knows.

Humans didn't survive for millions of years by drinking kale smoothies. They ate meat. Vegetables have their place, but the common wisdom of nutritionists was flawed for decades.

It sounded to them like it should be right, so they claimed to be sure, they had the proof they claimed, and they felt no need to go check with reality.

We see this over and over and over again with this modern crap class of elites.

THEY LIE CONSTANTLY!

I just finished making Macadamia Nut Chocolate Fat Bombs. I make them twice a week.

For a few years I was Paleo and loved it. About 4 months ago someone told me about Keto. I switched to Keto and never looked back. It is much like Paleo, but I prefer it. Fortunately for me I've always like meat. I enjoy grilling it and smoking it. Too much just ain't enough. I like fish as well.

Most days I do not eat breakfast so that I fast from dinner till lunch almost daily. For breakfast I usually have 3 cups of coffee, two with MCT oil.

My cholesterol is good, my blood pressure is good, my resting heart rate is good, my energy is good.

Keto/Paleio/high fat & low complex carbs may not satisfy everyone but it works for me.

I raise fish for a living among other things. Fish can get fatty livers just like mammals. But guess what? It's not the fat in the diet that gives them fatty livers. It's excess carbohydrates.

If you look it up you can find the answer. Essentially sugar was a big target at the time and so the sugar industry had their scientists write papers about how fat was the problem.

My whole family is Keto now. Everybody is losing weight and feeling great.

I am very aware of how corrupt America has become.

We might want to do something about that.

We might want to care.

I DONT SEE IT

We're talking at least 60's onward here.

We're talking at least 60's onward here.

We could argue about that but I dont wanna..

I should go back and see just how and when science went bad (AKA RANCID)....I have not been wanting to spend the time and this would be a time sucking endeavour I am sure because these sorts of things just about no one ever wants to talk about so discovery of reality is a project. D

However during 84/85 at Michigan State University while in an electrical engineering program I was already smelling things, I remember.

We've eaten useless, cancer-causing vitamin supplements for a few generations because one Nobel prize winner went crazy and went around his generation's talk show circuit claiming that vitamins could prevent cancer; he later died of cancer that might even have been caused by all the vitamins he took, but the myth was already immortal by then.

We are the only non-Jewish nation in the world with large-scale circumcision, because one doctor decided that cutting the skin off your son's dick might prevent him from masturbation. It doesn't work, and there's no good reason we should want it to anyway. Either way, we're still lopping off our kid's foreskins for zero medical benefit. In the mean time, your dick gets rug rashes when you use it too much because your great-grandad trusted a doctor who listened to a single religious zealot, or however far down the grapevine that was.

And here we have the perfect recruit for a trio of unjustifiable medical myths: the idea that humans are awful at digesting a food that allowed us to become sentient, and that the answer to our evolutionarily impossible dietary issue is modern food processing techniques. I don't know where this little gem is from, but I'm willing to bet that it took a single famous retard to convince this nation to pick up yet another stupid medical habit that's probably killing us.

The point is, don't blame some evil cabal of ruling elites for this: the masses are a mindless horde of lemmings who will gleefully run themselves off a cliff the instant someone with the slightest bit of credibility or authority suggests that it might be a good idea. It's a miracle that any governing body can keep us alive, seeing as we use authority as an excuse to let our worst traits run free.

I appreciate the argument friend, and am not shocked to find you doing it well and nicely.

This is what I have decided: They who have the power get the blame. They who lie get the blame. These are the same people who have often been found working to make Americans mindless exploited labor as they drive America relentlessly into the ground for their own personal profit.

I blame the elite first and most.

Vitamins cause cancer? Since when?

Since 2015 when a study was released showing that vitamin use was tied to increased cancer risk. Too many vitamins can give you CANCER, major new study warns the millions who take them - Mirror Online

This talks about beta carotene, folic acid, and vitamin E. Then it concludes that exceeding the recommended dose increases cancer risk. Any halfway decent nutritionist would tell you that exceeding the dose of these drugs is bad.

Find a similar study showing the same for vitamin C and then we'll talk.

In fact, folic acid receptors are common markers of cancer cells, so it's really not surprising that having too much of it would increase your cancer risk.
