What is the Most Hated Food in Your State

I was expecting Minnesota's to be "anything spicier than ketchup."

Oddly enough.....for not liking green beans, I have yet to see many Minnesota dinner tables that didn't have green bean casserole on it.....

AZ hates Kombucha? I've got to tell you, I doubt that most Arizonans would know what Kombucha is without a Google search.

Now, New Jersey is on the right track.

Cept gas stations in NJ can't sell alcohol due to the state law that prohibits any person or corporation from possessing more than two retail distribution licenses.. you need a separate license for alchohol rendering this map, made up bunk.

Octopus/Squid are about the only acceptable mollusk. Most other mollusks and arthropods are off the table. Most mollusks are filters, meaning all the crap that we throw into the ocean ends up in them. And arthropods are uncivilized. Just fluid and jelly filled carapaces, not even a closed circulatory system, scuttling along eating anything they can find...

When my mom taught me how to devein shrimp, she explained how what we were removing was the poop chute.

I've already repeated what you said about bugs to one of two people who'd appreciate it, and she asked me to thank you and say, "EXACTLY!"

Yup. That's probably why they all hate it so much -- just tired of it already.

I grew up with a pair of East coast transplant parents, so my culinary experience is somewhat different from most of my Northern neighbors.

Nothing wrong with Tuna, at the very least, it's a vertebrate. Far more evolved than a mere arthropod.

Which part do you refer to when you say "devein"?

A lot of people think that the dark tube on the underside of the shrimp, running between the legs, is the "poop shoot" (my wife fell into that category). It isn't. That's the ventral thoracic artery.

The poopshoots - midgut intestine and hind gut - run along its back, but these are usually already removed (sometimes a little bit left near the very end) whether you're buying cooked or raw shrimp. Only time I've seen otherwise was raw white shrimp, which had an intact shell and thus obviously nothing removed before packaging.

ie, white shrimp:

Just put it on a stick.....As we speak, the Minnesota State Fair is in full swing now; if you can put a food item on a stick, Minnesotans will ignore their dislikes just to say they ate it on a stick.....including "hotdish".

I'm so jealous! I miss the MN state fair... Truly a practice in creative frying.

But not without the occasional culinary disaster if last years "Spam and Sushi" is anything to go by...If absolute despair, misery ,and lost hope had a flavor.....that would be it.

Sadly, this year I will miss the Great Minnesota pig out, as I am working overseas; but my family assures me that all the classics are still there.

I'm talking about the vein on the back.

Oh my god, they did that? That's... grim.

I like Kombucha, it heals a bloated stomach.

What do Hawaii and Alaska hate?

I also doubt most Hoosiers could translate charcuterie into cold cuts.

From an app called Hater (no less)...
