Has anyone used Blue Apron?

Come September I'm probably going to give Hello Fresh a try. I am a fan of tilapia. The NY Strip sounds good too.

THx. I like trying different foods and recipes. HF sounds like a good start.

how can anyone be a fan of tilapia, it has no taste.

So do I and I enjoy it. I don't need overpriced ingredients. I can buy what I need at the market.

I can do that too. And I do, however:
These are a lot of recipes I wouldn't make as a rule, techniques and such. With my son out, I have to readjust how I buy food, how I make meals. I made big meals before, now... I need to pare it all down. Also this just mixes up the menu in a new and different way. I doubt we'll use it for long term, but as "new" thing it's quite good for what it is.

Potatoes have no taste either. It's all in the preparation.

potatoes do have some taste. cant think of any white meat that has any taste, fish fowl or 4 legged they all need spices. dark meat has taste. heritage pork, beef and drumsticks dont need added foolishness

I signed up, I read reviews, watched web reviewers, debated it and thought "Here's a way I can work on smaller meals since my son is off to college on Friday. He eats a lot, like most 6'5" teen males. So this was more to force smaller meals.

I'll try to photobomb the stuff and give my review later, wondering if anyone here tried them.

doesnt do much for diabetics

I love potatoes, but IMO they are the most bland food in the world. Without some kind of seasoning potatoes are boring as hell. I agree with you on chicken and turkey white meat. Pretty bland without seasonings. But IMO fish does have some taste, Halibut is fantastic, just too damn expensive. But even tilapia with a good bread coating, or garlic and butter sauce is quite good.

Even the crap KFC calls chicken with its coating is good. The thing about potatoes is we always put something on them even though it may only be butter. Even alligator white meat is pretty bland.

I agree, but we pretty much put some kind on seasoning on Chicken and Fish all the time too. No one just boils fish and eats it. unless they're Irish!! lol ;)

My wife's Irish, I constantly zing her about Irish cooking and just boiling their food and meats.

I'm not against it. It just isn't for me. I cook for two people, my wife and myself. I did a year of culinary school as continuing education some time ago in order to improve techniques. We eat what I would term "gourmet dinners" about 3 times per week. The rest of the time we do what has become comfort food for us.

It can be done well. We live a long way from an ocean so we tend to prepare frozen fish. We buy a lot of cod because it is frozen right after being caught. Not exactly an exotic ingredient but can work very well. Our beer battered fish and chips are one of our fairly commonly prepared comfort foods. We include garlic in the batter and make a homemade tartar sauce with pickle and capers. I think you could substitute tilapia without a problem.
