4th of July EATS THREAD!!!

Not even remotely the case.

Grew up in and around Big Sur. Son of an opthamologist surgeon.

I've spent time in the American South.

Couldn't ever live there.

I picked up on the Los Angeles reference that you weren't from the backwoods I was just being a smart-ass. I live about 20 miles outside of Baton Rouge Louisiana and it don't get more south than that. I'm retired and I live with my son so it's just my first experience in the South and it is a really interesting

I was born in St Paul Minnesota if that's the same Paul you're talking about and if you're from Minnesota you damn well better have a casserole and jello salad. Just FYI I lived in Fort Lauderdale for two and a half years and let me tell you that place sucks.

The thing about South Florida is The Summer's heat is insufferable as Minnesota's winter cold. Frankly I think the people suck. Way too much fraud way too much petty theft everybody's out scamming everybody else.

So you obviously know what southern heat is about. I don't handle it well I don't handle it well at all.

did you give up drinking?

I had friends over at my house but it was raining hard. We went shooting at the range using my pistols and Saiga 12- my buddies were from Quebec, France and Sweden, so they all fired handguns for the first time. They enjoyed it- looks like I am slowly bringing about the American love of guns to Europeans and Canucks- I did my patriotic duty. :2razz:

We moved to a bar for lunch but they had terrible bar food so we ordered delivery from Halal Guys for some shwarma but were charged corkage. Ugh.

Still raining in the afternoon so I took them all to my house for dinner and cooked a huge pot of chili con carne, rice, bread and salad for everybody. Ice cream for dessert but we were all stuffed so I guess my son is going to love the extra supply.

Had a good rib-eye on the grill with some cheese toast. Plus a few good beers.

We had a bit of a gathering...good friends, good food. Bacon wrapped everything, grilled pork steaks, grilled chicken, grilled bacon, Mexican street corn, lots of sides...

Thats how we started the day as well. We loaded up the trucks and headed into the desert...shot for about 3 hours. The pop up canopy's are a Godsend.

I miss it!!!

There was just a study released on the news this morning that the worst summer in the entire United States is Mississippi the second-worst summer in the entire United States is Louisiana

my wife's family reunion is every 4th of July, and they have a pitch in. we made a mac and cheese casserole, Chinese chicken salad, and a from-scratch blueberry pie. it all turned out pretty well.

Congrats. You finally got hitched.

Nothing too fancy.....

linguini w/ meat sauce, later pizza, later yet steak tips.

Carne asada, pork featherbone mole, elote, beans, and rice.

For dessert my daughter made a store bought Oreo dessert thing that was actually pretty good.

Just ate the leftovers for lunch and it was just as good as yesterday.
