Food You Thought You Wouldnt Like But Ended Up Liking Anyway

Maybe... it was the speciality of the restaurant I went to, so I don't know. Maybe if someone offers it, but I'm not buyin' !

As a child, I spent a few years in Germany. In the butcher shop, cow tongue is prominently displayed in the cases. Same texture as
human tongues. I was ordered to try it and never could get over the mental image, texture and the taste did nothing to negate my preconceptions.

I've eaten tripe (cow stomach) in menudo. The menudo was very tasty, but the tripe in it was bland and tasteless. The texture of the tripe put me off, too, more so than the blandness.

Green olives. Didn't "discover" them until age 36, and I'm pissed that I wasted 36 years being green olive-less. Stuffed with either jalapenos or garlic is the best. Green olives on pizza. yow that's good. I like almost any kind of olives now... except black olives. Go figure.

It took me a while to take to calamari. Good stuff.

same here. i was about 33 or 34 the first time i ate calamari.

as for the OP, it's generally something that i didn't like when i was younger but really like as an adult, especially veggies. also, i've generally preferred fried seafood, but the first time i tried grilled scallops, i was really surprised at how much i liked them prepared that way. that's generally what i get when i go to a Japanese grill now.

ah, and sushi. i've only had it once, expected it to be gross, and it was actually pretty decent. i'll probably try it again.
