Though, I do like Doreen's Sausage & Jalepeno....but I don't know if that's a brand outside Chicago...

Damn, have not seem them in years....they were once very fine, dont know about now.
 
Didn't they used to be better? Seems like the crust is more cardboardy now.

Yeah, could be it's been awhile since I had one, and admittedly it was a once every ten day cheat meal, so it might have been cardboard then, but it was damn good cardboard at the time...:lol:
 
This will seem like blasphemy to more than a few but Sams Choice makes an excellent thin crust peperoni frozen pizza, that is if you can find it. Its become my unicorn of late. Second best is the thin crust pizzas at Costcos frozen foods section. Walmart and Aldo's have some decent deli section pizza's. Any pizza I take home gets doctored. Either with more toppings or cheese or spices. It little doctoring goes a long way in making frozen and deli pizza's pretty darn tasty. Nothing beats a good pizza restaurant pizza though.

i have yet to try one. i suppose that's one to put on the to do list.

Think of it like this instead of toasting some bread then using that to make a sandwich, just make the sandwich and toast the whole darn thing. Even better if you have cheese in the sandwich.
 
The last time I ate frozen pizza was when I was still living with my parents. Then again, I eat Pizza Hut regularly so I maybe I never stopped.

I have tried several frozen pizzas and would not choose any of them as "good". Freezing food works only with vegetables.

DeGiorno probably stands out, but as with every frozen pizza you'd do well to add your own sauce and a fresh sprinkling of mozzarella halfway through cooking.

Keep trying. Our favorite is Palmero's Ultra Thin Crust. We bought a black dimpled pizza sheet from Chuck E Cheeses that we put the pizza on after it's cooked. Keeps the crust crispy. Can't bake on it, but doesn't get the crust soggy. Their toppings are excellent. We'll also doctor a frozen pizza. Add more shredded cheese, sprinkle some extra seasonings; sometimes, if I'm ambitious, I'll add chopped fried bacon or our own sautéed mushrooms...

It's pretty hard yo compare a $7 frozen to a $20 fresh delivered. But it's a lot more convenient and cheaper. We have Lou Malnati's around us. They sell their own deep dish frozen take-out. It's not cheap, but it's like fresh made if you follow their directions.

Is that the Palermos on 95th steet in Oaklawn?
 
We usually keep a few of those small Totino's in the freezer. They're actually pretty tasty and work well for a late night snack in a pinch.

It depends on how hungry I am or if the wife is out of town, but then I usually call the local pizzeria and get me a large deluxe. Now that I think of it, I probably have not eaten a frozen pizza in ten years or more. Tombstone, I believe, was the last.
 
Plus, pizza dough is one of the easiest things to make.

I have a cast iron skillet, I've made a basic pizza dough, laid it out real nice in the skillet, loaded it with toppings, and ended up with a ridiculously awesome pan pizza.

Given how incredibly simple it is to make a pizza, base'n'all, it amazes me how big an industry pizza delivery is. When I make pizza dough, which can be used to make flatbreads and naan, I make enough to freeze half. I tried an experiment once and defrosted some dough. At the point that it was ready to work I got a friend to order a pizza delivery and then I set about making the same pizza with my dough. My pizza was ready 12 minutes before the delivery arrived and cost me around 75% less. That was in a big city (Leeds), with plenty of pizza delivery options. Nowadays I have no choice because here we can get no fast-food deliveries at all.
