Spicy Fall Stew Baked in a Pumpkin

That actually sounds pretty good!!

that looks pretty good.

I like to make baked pumpkins. Get the small ones, baseball size or less, wrap them in foil, and treat them just like you would a sweat potato.

Delicious.

Will have to try that stew.

I'd do the sauteing with thick-sliced bacon and rub the inside of the pumpkin with bacon fat though.

Bread bowls work much better - especially when you hate pumpkin.

Probably, but I like pumpkin. Within limits. We went out to friends the other night and she'd made a nice soup and used the pumpkin as a tureen. My wife makes little pies with pork and pumpkin and just a touch of curry that'd change your mind.

Great idea. That would improve it no end.

Pumpkin is one of those things that sounds like it should work, but rarely does. The only good uses I have found are pie and cheesecake. In every other application I have tried either squash works better or the whole concept of the recipe is whack.

BTW Starbucks got a lot of complaints that their pumpkin pie spice latte's had no pumpkin, so they reformulated adding pumpkin.....big mistake.

Pumpkin soup is ok. It's a winter dish where I live.

id try that

A "sweat potato"? Gross!

All kidding aside, years ago we grew some of those miniature pumpkins, and they were good eatin'.
