You're driving I-95, along the east coast. You've got to stop for a quick bite to eat, but you don't want to sit in a restaurant and lose and hour of driving time.

So these are your choices. They're usually lined up within a few hundred yards of each other, so distance to one or the other isn't an issue.

You just want to pop off I-95 at an exit, grab something quick, and get right back on the interstate.

Which one do you pick and why?

Reminder - along I-95 these are your most typical choices, so please don't get into the options that only exist in California, or in western Canada or whatever.

Burger King.....always Burger King.
Number 8 with onion rings

Second choice, McDonald's 20 piece Chicken Nuggets with spicy mustard sauce.

I feel your pain. I was a road warrior like you once and went all over the place chasing down ships, boats and yachts to fix, call in, then chase down the next one.

Nope. I dont eat while driving. If Im hungry I make it a point to stop at a place where I can sit down and eat.

If I'm with my daughter, most likely, it would have to be McDonald or Wendys. Those are her favorites and on a long car ride, best to give the kid what they want to eat.

I head to Trip Adviser and find the best place to eat in any given town. Life is too short for 'fast' food.

I don't travel much. Twice a year-ish. Family vacation drive is usually 10-12 hours depending on traffic.

My first choice would be Chik-Fil-A, second choice Wendy's if we need a drive thru. Our real favorite is Cracker Barrel if we have the time.

Boy.... I reeeeaaaallllly don't get the appeal of Cracker Barrels. I also don't think of them as being a carry-out place.
Aren't they a sit-down restaurant place? Usually an hour minimum required?

We make it in and out in 45 minutes. My kids love the chicken and dumplings, the Mr. likes the chicken fried steak and I usually get soup and a BLT. If we're traveling for quite some time we like to get out of the car and stretch our legs. They're bathrooms are immaculate, the kids like the peg game on the table and walking around the store is fun.

When I am traveling, I find Subway is good road food, very consistent.
I do not like heavy meals when driving.

Having always lived less than 50 miles from Philadelphia, we all pretty much find Subways to be abominations when it comes to subs as we know them.

When one is on the road and in a hurry then certain sacrifces must be made. ;)

I look for local burger joints or truck stops. Both are usually far better than fast food.

The deli or cafeteria sections of many grocery stores also offer some decent options. We tend to pack a cooler when down time for meals is that important of a consideration on a long road trip.

That's how we ALWAYS travel. A cooler and our compact grill are essential traveling supplies for us.

I usually stop at large truck stops. They usually have sandwiches and fresh fruit.
