Which one you like best?

I'm New England all the way baby. I like it thick too. Almost like a stew rather than a soup.
If it's a little runny, in go the saltines or oyster crackers.

Either way I love love LOVE New England clam chowder.

Never was a fan of Manhattan style.

What about you? Which one?

I like both. But if I have a choice I pick Manhattan. I also make a pretty good Manhattan in out Crock Pot.

We're talking cream v tomato based right?

Manhattan, becuase I like them both equally in flavor and Manhattan in lighter in calories

Chowder is made with milk or cream. Manhatan Clam Chowder is an abomination before God and Man. Not one of the three Great Abominatons, though. Those are: non-alcoholic beer, decaffinated coffee, fat-free cheesecake.

American scones (triangular) are also lesser abominations.

Gotta go with the Massachusetts variety - chowda.

Europeans add tomatoes and tomato sauce to everything. Especially the Italians, and Italian food is not an abomination of God, nor man. LOL Actually I don't even know if it is Italian, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Anyway my biggest problem with NE Chowder is I am not a huge fan of any food with a cream/cheese type sauce. Even Alfredo. ;)

I hooked up with this girl one night in college and she gave me clams.

It’s a stretch to call the Manhattan soup a chowder, My brother and I have had an ongoing battle for who makes the best chowder for 25+ years. The judging goes on Christmas Day at the family gathering. It started out with clam chowder but now has evolved to seafood chowder.

I won’t give away my triple secret recipe but it sure isn’t for the calorie counters, It contains cream, butter and butter milk. The seafood in this chowder is Cod , clams, scollops and just before serving cooked lobster meat.

Will you post recipe after X-mas is over?

And are you suggesting your brother is a member here?

I’ll have to think about that, It is a triple secret recipe. And (no) my brother is not a member here but this is not the average cook off. Bribes, threats and all manner of dirty tricks are in play to win, we are brothers there are no rules. Last year, I caught him trying to bribe one of my sons who happens to work for him with extra paid vacation days for a list of ingredients and seafood purchased. This is serious business, I even change the passwords on my computer in December.

The poll is perfectly complete. I covered the only clam chowders that matter.
