Do you have to cut off caffeine before bed?

Soda, coffee, tea, whatever. If so, how many hours before bed?

I don't. I can drink soda right up to going to bed and sleep just fine. I know a lot of people who have to stop 3-4 hours before bed, though, or else they can't sleep. I can sleep pretty much anytime, anywhere.

When I drank lots of coffee, I'd drink it right before bed. No problem. Now, I just drink one cup in the morning. A cup after about 2pm, and I've got, as mom used to say, the big eye.

Why are you drinking carbonated sugar-water at all, much less right up till you go to bed??? ;)

Try weaning off that drug; regular water is much better for you.

I drink diet soda (not good, either, but no sugar), and lecturing is not part of the thread premise. :)

Do you have an answer for the question? ;)

Well I don't drink soda, or coffee.

I do drink un-sweetened tea, but with meals only.

I drink water otherwise.

I will almost never drink large amounts of caffeine after 6pm. I might be able to, one set of grandparents drank coffee all day, but I have enough trouble sleeping, I have no interest in making the situation maybe worse.

I read (2 months ago?) that someone has discovered that a large number of us are genetic mutants who not only can drink all day, but need a lot of caffeine through the day to feel right.

Hopefully I am remembering this right, I was only lightly interested.

The latest I absolutly must cut caffeine off is, when I fall asleep.

Nope. Coffee all day and all evening. I have a Monster energy drink right now.

Quitter.

That's interesting. Tea for dinner but water otherwise. I do water for meals and coffee otherwise.

I can drink two cups of coffee and fall asleep. Living the college life.

This is my experience as well.

I think both caffeine and nicotine can act as stimulants, but if they're used persistently, they don't have that effect.

In the morning, it's not so much that i need a coffee to wake up, it's more that i need a coffee so that i can focus on things other than acquiring caffeine.

I had to pretty much cut it out of my life, period.

Other than the occasional Dr. Pepper, that is about it.

I drink DECAFFINATED Sweet tea.

although I do have some caffeine pills for those instances I need to get wired for energy.

I wish I had, for that would mean that caffeine actually does something to me. I can drink a coffee mug at night and still drop asleep after an hour.

Speaking of caffeine, I now have a hankering for a cup of coffee to go with my snickers bar :3

I swear that I could not exist without coffee. I can drink it 24/7/365.

I forgot bring some with me this week while out for a short 1/2 day sail that actually turned into a 2 day sail. I found some 4 year old instant coffee in my onboard emergency kit that I had to make do with for a couple days.

It sucked....but it was coffee. ;)

I love coffee. I usually drink 3-4 cups per day. Having some after 6 pm sometimes keeps me up, but I still sleep better than if I had two glasses of wine.

Nothing with caffeine for me after 6pm.

And yeah, the vast majority of diet sodas have sugar substitutes that are almost guaranteed to be more harmful to you than regular sugared sodas.

Soda should NOT be an everyday beverage. Diet or non-diet.

I can take a cup of coffee to bed with me if I am going to read....no problem

on the other hand, on days when I am dragging my tail and would love a pick me up, coffee doesn't work then either

4-5 hours before bed I have to cut off the caffeine.

If I put enough rum into the coke, my caffeine cut-off time before bed changes dramatically.
