Soft, every time I eat a hard taco, I chip off part of it and everything falls apart.

Can't have both. Gotta pick one. :2razz:

i generally split the ticket. maybe a slight preference for the soft one, because i save that one for last. a hard taco has to have a good shell that doesn't turn into a pile of crumbs on the first bite, so it has the harder job.

"soft" corn tortillas

My "hard" shell tacos I like in the form of what is known as a tostada.

I prefer hard shells, with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and spicy ground beef.

soft, has to be soft

and then the contrast crunch has to come from a side of homemade nachos with caramelized onions, ground beef, melted cheese chunks of tomato and

ya have to have guacamole too....

I just ate but right now, I could start all over again

Soft. Hard tacos just make a mess, and are generally kind of difficult to eat, especially on the go.

When I get hard taco shells, I ask for a plate or a bowl and I just break everything up and turn it into a taco salad.

I like soft best.

Hard. The subtle change in flavor by frying that tortilla makes the difference.

I like hard tacos and have the same problem. So I nestle the small one inside a soft one and cement em together with guacamole or refrieds.

Soft corn tortillas. Because they remind me of eating street tacos in Mexico.

Hard tacos are an American invention. They're tasty and I enjoy the crunch, sure. But they're not Mexican. A taco should be a Mexican one.

Hard, hard, hard! I want it hard, don't you?

Yes, real tacos are only made with corn tortillas. Same with enchiladas.

Sacriledge! I have travelled around northern Mexico pretty extenstively (or, at least, I did before about 2002 or so, when things started to get ultra hinky) and have had tacos in Sonora, Chihuahua and Sinaloa from flour/wheat tortillas.

I can assure you they were quite real, quite off the beaten path in what qualifies as Podunk, Mexico and most authentic.

My grandparents were from Nogales, which I believe is in Sonora, but I have never been there (actually, I think I did go there once for a few hours). So I'll hafta take your word for it. But I am casting the suspicious eye on ya. oO

I think my other grandparents were from Santa Cruz (also in Sonora). And I know my Nana never made tacos with flour tortillas. But it could've just been a personal preference. I sure miss her "gorditas". Thick corn "tortillas", almost more of a corn flat bread.

I realize there are different styles of food throughout Mexico.
