My answer:
TACOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like crunchy better even though they are messy.

Soft tacos, man.

Someone may have already covered this point but you really don’t need to choose. If you purchase the uncooked corn tortillas and just heat them in a pan with a hint of oil you get both crunchy and soft on one shell. Those crunchy pre-formed shells are not what tacos were meant to be.

If you are really into tacos the best shells are homemade and the taste difference is night and day. In a rush, use store bought flats but heat/cook them, if you have time the dough is just 90/10 mix of corn flour to 10 percent all purpose flour a pinch of salt a drizzle of oil and hot water. A tortilla press is best and they are very cheap to purchase $20 on amazon or a few dollars more at a cookware store.

Tip: if you like that preformed shape and crunch, after cooking lay the shells over any cylindrical kitchen gadget you have (rolling pin or whatever) then place them in the oven for a few minutes on warm.

How to make corn tortillas:

Home cooked 'hard' corn tortilla shells, street taco style. A bit of crunch, but they manage to stay together.

And if you want to get a little crazy...forego the traditional taco and use egg roll wraps and shredded chicken cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, and sprouts with a rice vinegar based dressing or peanut satay sauce. .

Either, depending on my mood, but if I had to pick which one I like better, I'd say 'soft' with a corn tortilla. The best is a carnitas taco in a corn tortilla with only onion and cheese. Ok, maybe some guac, too. And salt.

Someone told me today that he likes pink tacos. Has anyone ever had these? Are they any good?

It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I like al pastor. But those have to be soft tacos preferably flour tortillas. But corn will do. Chicken again a soft flour tortilla. With beef I can fluctuate. If it is ground beef I kinda like a crunchy corn taco. If it is like fajita, brisket I like corn but I can go either way as far as crunchy or soft.

Soft, every time I eat a hard taco, I chip off part of it and everything falls apart.

This. Shattering hard tacos was fun when I was a kid. Not so much now.

Hmmm..I'm a little surprised at the poll results. I'd have thought the results would be closer to 50-50.

Soft tacos. I will eat hard tacos but prefer soft.

"soft" corn tortillas

My "hard" shell tacos I like in the form of what is known as a tostada.

This. Pretty much soft corn or homemade soft flour.

If I use "hard shells" it would be like a tostado form but to eat with some pozole or hiva and not really a taco.

I'm actually pretty food specific as well. Flour tortillas for fajitas; pollo, carne, camarones, pescado , Corn I'm a big fan of being traditional here -- carne, a little cilantro y cebolla, a squeeze of limon, that's it. But actually one of my favorite snacks is the beans spread on a fresh, warm corn tortilla with a little salsa.

Tostadas I like to go vegetarian with; either I'll throw some frijoles y arroz on there with onion, lettuce, tomato a little salsa verde (the good homemade kind -- tomatillo, garlic, jalapeño et al) and a dash of Cholula or I'll spread some fresh guacamole on there or use fresh avocado with a scoop of pico de gallo and the obligatory dash of Cholula...

I take the broken ones and have them with chili or soup...

Off the subject, I have to say my favorite tamales are veg too. A slice of tomato, a slice of jalapeño tucked into that masa -- all full of steamy goodness...Mmm...Mmm..

That being said, there's some pollo sitting in my fridge right now marinating for the tostadas I'm making for dinner tonight.

Hey, the wife wants what the wife wants -- who am I to tell her no?

More important- corn or flower. If you eat hard corn tortillas you eat Taco Bell

Flower tortillas? :giggling:

Definitely hard. Flour tortilla's are tough and have no flavor.
