Are you obese?[W:60]*****

Re: Are you obese?

In US culture its common practice to excuse obesity, gluttony and the diseases that go with it.

Really? Could you post some links that prove this?

Some believe that making overweight people feel ashamed of their weight or eating habits actually helps motivate them to lose weight.

However, nothing could be further from the truth. Psychologists have done a lot of research on this, and the evidence is very clear.

Fat shaming does NOT motivate people, but makes them feel terrible about themselves and actually causes them to eat more and gain more weight (1).

Don't shame the fat people.

'Don't have to prove that. We vote people like that into office and make them thus to people to emulate.

Re: Are you obese?

My favorite example of proof that we accept obesity is how 300lbs for men is the new 250. And, women weighing 200 lbs is now the new normal.

The other day, I overheard a woman telling her friend that she just wants to get back down to 180. I'm like, "Holy ****! That's my goal."

Evidence instead of an insult. Thank you.

Re: Are you obese?

Nope.

I'm very skinny, because I have a high metabolism.

I'm trim and in shape. My doctor told me I have a metabolism that would kill a horse. In fact, I think it's already killed a couple of 'em. The doc never mentioned multiple fatalities...

and do you wish you were determined enough to change yourself through diet?

?

Not overweight, living in the country has a tendency to keep ones weight down along with stress. Do not mind the occasional day without meat but also love me some good Barbeque Anything. Let me pass on a little story through personal experience to show why weight loss through a vegan diet does not work exactly as advertised. A good friend of ours went Vegan many years ago to lose weight and she did lose a whole lot, but after years of living on it she has gained a lot of it back. She still does it for healthy living, but she no longer sings the weight loss benefits. But you would be proud that we do still do the totally vegan menu when they come for dinner, and it is not all bad, but neither me or my wife would consider doing so for a lifestyle.
