Strictly a McDonald's question here.

Quarter Pounder or Big Mac?

And why?

I go Quarter Pounder. With cheese.

If I want lettuce and the other stuff, I go to Burger King and get a Whopper.

Plus - what the hell is "special sauce"?

I havent eaten either in years but I would go with the Big Mac- because of the special sauce. A quarter pounder just has ketchup.

That's like choosing between Hillary and Trump. ;)

Quarter Pounder with cheese.

The sole reason is for me Mickey D is subsistence food while driving, and the quarter Pounder is less likely to leak special sauce all over your clothes.

I have to choose what I eat based primarily on sodium content. With that in mind, I would have to go with the Quarter Pounder if those two are my only choices.

Big Mac - sodium - 742mg https://www.caloriecount.com/calories-big-mac-i21111

Quarter Pounder - sodium - 684mg https://www.caloriecount.com/calories-big-mac-i21111

It gets much worse if you add their processed cheese...

Quarter Pounder w/cheese - sodium - 1110mg https://www.caloriecount.com/calories-mcdonalds-quarter-pounder-cheese-i53977

My suggestion...stay away from all of them.

I flip back and forth on those. I like them both from time to time and the secret sauce is basically thousand island dressing.

I was an impressionable age when this commercial came out. They were even giving them away free if you could say the jingle. I've been a Big Mac guy ever since.

Oh yeah, I can remember all us kids singing that "song" on the playground at school.

Big Mac. It's got a taste I can tolerate, but to be honest, I haven't had one in a few years. I don't like them all that much. But, if I did have to choose, the BM would be the one.

I found the QP to be too greasy for my taste. Plus, the meat is not really good enough to stand alone like that. I do like a patty melt, but I prefer on which uses much leaner beef and far less salt.

McD has the Big Tasty. It's a lot better than both of the burgers above.

When I googled that, first thing I saw was: it's McDonald's attempt to make a Whopper.

I'll go to Burger King for a Whopper.

big mac just to hard to hold while driving.
it is the quarter pound much easier.

however when it comes to mcdonalds I go the cheap route usually a double cheeseburger and fries.
I hate eating there but when you are driving and hungry it is convenient

I miss the Big Tasty, I thought it wasn't bad.

Of the two, a quarter pound cheeseburger, although a Mcdouble is usually filling enough for me.

A Big Mac is mostly bread.

I don't think they discontinued it. But, I haven't been to McD is a long time. So, I'm not sure.

Have not had one in years,, but they never EVER looked like the picture shows,,, They were always mashed, lettuce wilted.

The only thing I get from McDs anymore is sometimes I get a breakfast sandwich. For burgers or a lunch/dinner meal, there are better things out there.

Neither. I like to get a gob of ground beef weighing about 12 oz together, smash it up with some spices (paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme), soak it with 1/2 shot whiskey, then mash it out in to a patty.

Then I grill it medium rare, with two slices cheddar melted over it, and about 300 calories worth of bacon on top. Bun plus "chili sauce" (which is actually just a better version of ketchup...nothing to do with spicy chilis).

And extra salt.

And before any militantly stupid persons chime in: I usually need at least 1,000 extra calories a day along with 1.5g extra salt, to compensate for the morning workout(s).

Sodium

Ground Beef...300 mg
1oz cheddar....180 mg
Bacon.............delete
Extra salt.........delete
sub chili sauce with low-salt ketchup....70 mg
Whiskey and spices....0 mg

Without the bun...550 mg
With low salt bun...730 mg

btw, I would add grilled onions and grilled mushrooms...0 mg

Of the two, I'll take the Big Mac.

It's a tastier, more balanced sandwich.

But usually, I hit-up Mickey Dee's only when I'm in the car in a hurry on the way somewhere, and desperate for some very fast cheap calories. Then it's a quick side-trip through the drive-thru, and it's usually a quick hamburger to kill my hunger pangs temporarily.

Yeah, the plain burger hits the spot after a hike or bike ride. I have to admit.
