In and Out Burger

Likely not going to happen. Completely separate cooking and storage facilities separated from the meat, a dedicated employee (to prevent cross-contamination) to service a demand that isn't really there, etc....

Why not go the extra mile. No one is forcing you to eat a veggie burger, but many like having a choice. So many members of our society are vegetarians or vegans, by choice, religion/culture.
Families with individual diet preferences could actually go to the same restaurant. Wow, what a concept.

If I want a great Italian spaghetti, should I insist that the Chinese take-out place down the street start making it?
Not a comparison at all

Should people insist that Chick Fil-A start selling Chinese food?
No, but they do offer choices. I bet they would even omit the chicken when asked

Look, if you want a great vegetarian meal, either make it yourself, or go to a place that specializes in vegetarian cuisine.
Mom and son stay home, dad and daughter go out to eat. ....just one scenario that comes to mind. Office party, birthday party, anniversary?

I don't know why anyone would expect a chain that's specialized in nothing but meat products to be able to just whip out a delicious FAKE-meat product.

Not to mention what would the added expense be for the chains? You gonna accept that your bean/tofu/mushroom "burger" gets cooked right alongside the beef burgers?
Probably not are you? You're gonna demand a whole separate unit for the meat-less product. Right?

Why do people think they have less choices just because someone adds a few more selections?
Isn't it worth a try? Cost vs demand, we will have to see.

Politically correct fast food. Shut up liberal America everyone hates you.

In and Out is pretty perfect the way that it is... streamlined and that is what people like.

Cheese Burger
Hamburger
Fries
Shakes
Soda

DONE.

Just tell them to hold that terrible sauce eh?

or the existing place could offer another choice. gee whiz
If they thought that was a good idea, they would have done it already. See...successful business know what works and what doesnt. They dont run their business by petition.

...

You don't understand how business works do you?

Drawing additional crowds by expanding the menu sounds like good business practice to me.

There's a cost for that. And in this case it probably outweighs any benefit.

People go to In-and-Out for simple, old-fashioned burgers, fries, and shakes that aren't oversized portions (unless you get a triple, but that's your choice). The simplicity and deliciousness is their competitive advantage. You're asking them to compromise on likely both of those things simply to attract what is likely an insignificant number of people. Remember, introducing a product like this isn't just a quick and easy deal. There's R&D that has to go into it, marketing and branding, proper tooling and equipment, changing the menus and signage, training staff for the rollout, and the legal risk of accidently serving a vegetarian (or someone allergic to meat) a meat product. You simply aren't going to do that with such a small market who, by nature of the petition, already seem to desire what you already produce. You gotta recover all those costs without damaging your existing market position/brand and alienating existing customers.

Think about it. If they didn't already want to eat the product you have, they wouldn't be asking for something that tastes just like it (albeit meatless). Last I saw, In-and-Out didn't even have salads. If you want such inclusion and diversity, I'm sure McDonalds would accommodate you.

bean burgers can be tasty if done properly.

Its a 'burger' joint. Why dont those militant vegans start a "Down and Out Tofu and Black Bean Patty Drive Thru" of their very own?

we have quite a few meatless restaurants in town
my wife and daughter enjoy them
but i will never be able to tell you first hand

not a bad idea to cast a wider net with a restaurant's expanded menu

Unless you are a burger joint known for making burgers. Thats like going to Philly and telling Geno's they should start making phalaphadogs.
