Leftover chicken sandwich from Subway.

Chiliquiles with a sunny side up egg, coffee.

Yes, but I don't really see the point of rice milk. I like almond milk.

I like coconut best. They're all better than cow pus.

Coconut tastes good but I think almond milk is more nutritious. I could be wrong though.

Cocoa Wheats and four sausage links.
On Thursday I'm having Baked Ham and egg sandwich and Ginger Ale.
I will have my favorites and still call it breakfast.

slice of cinnamon swirl bread from yesterday's Thanksgiving dinner.

slice of toast with yogurt margarine.

  • Oatmeal w/raisins, butter and brown sugar
  • Protein shake
  • Water

my wife's heirloom tomatoes are ripening, so her first tomato of the season was enjoyed as part of a bacon and egg bisquit

  • M-waved salmon filet (S&P, lemon slice)
  • Leftover whole wheat bucatini w/vegan spaghetti sauce (TVP reconstituted with mushroom broth)
  • Protein shake
  • Water

This a.m.'s breakfast was something of a "get rid of leftovers" meal:

  • Oatmeal w/brown sugar, butter and fresh figs
  • Baked beans
  • Shrimp cocktail
  • Protein shake
  • Elbow-grease orange juice

Lunch also will today be "get rid of leftovers."

Steel cut oats with raisins and blueberries. Takes a while to cook, basically brunch.

Oh, my. Of all the things one may microwave, oatmeal is one that cooks super well that way, and it's fast.

Bowl, oats, brown sugar, fruit, water, zap for four or five minutes, stir, eat.

(Optional: cinnamon or nutmeg, added before cooking ideally, but afterwards works too.)

Aside:
Nutmeg is one of my favorite "secret" ingredients. Try a pinch/dash of it in mashed potatoes. If you put in the right amount, you won't taste the nutmeg, but the potatoes will have a depth of flavor that will surprise you.

A dash of nutmeg (preferably freshly grated) also is the savior of poorly-to-so-so executed sauces, especially white sauces, giving them body/depth when they instead would be bland and somewhat watery tasting. As with the mashed potato, if you can specifically taste the nutmeg it's too much...to see what I mean, buy some of those packaged alfredo or other white-sauce noodle things or even freeze dried mashed potatoes. The right amount of nutmeg an butter won't make them "awesome," but it will make them palatable.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks food types are not wedded to times of day.

Importing the idea to modern times made no sense to me.

Mandatory eggs make sense when someone collects them from the chicken first thing in the morning. Mandatory milk makes sense when it's either delivered to your door or taken from the cow. Biscuits, panckaes, etc? Well, perhaps they may go with eggs, but there's no reason to tie any of that to breakfast specifically. Bacon? Well, that's just awesome, which is probably why nobody seems to restrict it to breakfast anymore.

But yeah, the whole thing seemed beyond silly to me. Eat whatever you want for breakfast.

I remember visiting my granny and gramps for dinner one evening. I got served scrambled eggs and ham- apparently my granny just felt like eating breakfast for dinner that evening.

I can relate. I love eggs. I at times keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge for snacking, more in the late summer when it's just so damned hot outside that something substantive and cold is refreshing. I just boil a dozen and then put them back in the egg carton from the store and work my way through them...LOL

Quick and easy things I do with hard boiled egg:
  • Cut in half with a little sumpin-sumpin put between the two sides (hard boiled egg sandwich(?) without the bread)
    • Dash of salad dressing poured on
    • Slice of pickle
    • Pinch of sweet relish or my homemade pepper relish
    • S&P
    • Drizzle of syrupy (aged) balsamic vinegar
    • A couple leaves of baby spinach
    • Cold collard greens
    • Deli meat or Iberico ham
    • Pinch of leftover pulled or minced meat
  • Wrapped whole in a slice of deli meat or Iberico ham
  • Whole or half of the egg w/one or more of the above wrapped inside a Romaine or other large leaf and then dipped in salad dressing as I eat it. ("finger salad")
    • If you ever have leftover steak tartare or pâté, spread the meat in the vein of a Romaine leaf, slice/chop the egg over it, wrap it and dip in salad dressing or vinegar (or both) of your choice as you eat it.
Of, of course, sometimes, I just eat the egg and move on. LOL

OMG.....The last actual breakfast post was on the 19[SUP]th[/SUP]....Are you people not eating breakfast?

Today's breakfast:
  • Before getting out of bed: handful of trail mix and 6 oz. of water
  • Breakfast "proper"
    • Double helping of Kashi honey almond flax cereal with chocolate Silk and chopped fresh peach
    • Protein shake w/creatine supplement
    • Water

Post aerobics banana and Vitamin Water w/more Vitamin Water over the course of the workout

I couldnt sleep, so I ran on the treadmill at 5am and after a quick shower, walked over to a nearby boutique hotel (I know the owner so she always gives me a discount).

Chowed down on their breakfast buffet- had fried eggs sunny side up, crispy bacon, hashed potatoes, pancakes, mango juice, milk.

Nature Vally dark chocolate granola bars.
