the breakfast thread

BLT on wheat.

they call this one "the american" breakfast

That made me laugh.
If the lobster starts moving, you can always shoot it.

Just oatmeal today. I like to slow cook steel cut oats.

What I eat for breakfast depends on my mood. If I have access to perfectly fresh donuts, that's what it'll be. Eggs? Sure, bring it on. Healthy smoothy is fine too. It is all fine in moderation.

how did I miss this thread

this is my usual breakfast please dont be jelly

Steamed broccoli and shredded Brussels sprouts with either steamed eggs or squid.

Oil and some kind of vinegar.

I dont know why but I have always hated brussels sprouts

Nothing better than some mueslix and almond milk.

Demi-Baguette. toasted, sliced with a BIG hunk of Brie crammed in the middle.

Che Guevara biscuits?! I know from experience commies don't ever eat that well.

Biscuits and sausage gravy w/coffee

The wife is still sleeping. I am conflicted. Part of me wants to wake her up so she makes breakfast, another part of me wants to just jump back into bed myself and join her.

 I feel this way every weekend

bacon / onion / lettuce / mayo on low cal English muffin

Jalapeno, habanero, brie omelet with tabasco jam and butter on plain bagel.

Its the weekend and a new gourmet bakeshop opened nearby so I took the kid to breakfast over there.

I wanted the German pancakes but they were sold out at 9am. Grrrr.

So I got huevos rancheros instead- they made theirs with some goat cheese and the runny egg was perfect. My son ate a blueberry muffin with hot chocolate. We took home some chocolate bundt cakes, nuttela danishes and chorizo and cheese empanadas from the counter.

Made consomme from pork bones, simmered 48ish hours.

Used some as base for a buckwheat noodle, egg, and thai chili soup to start the day.

I've become addicted to cheese grits as a simple breakfast comfort food. I only gave them once a week, but I want them all the time.

Here is my recipe ... warning to southerners: Microwaved Instant Grits used!

(2 servings)

1/2 cup Quaker Instant Grits
2 cups Water
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbs butter

Microwave for 12 minutes on half power

When done cooking, stir in the melted butter. Then stir in:

3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar
1 tbs spicy Mrs. Dash

Enjoy.

Not good for you, but great for your soul.

microwaved/instant grits
sacrilege!

i would recommend the prospective cook to consider real grits (white or yellow) s-l-o-w-l-y prepared on a low flame
2 cups of fluid to 1 cup of grits
try chicken broth and/or milk/cream instead of the water - or to replace some of it
stir frequently

butter is fine, but this recipe is why southerners save their bacon grease

today I woke up late and ate at McDs so I won't count that.

yesterday, snoqualmie falls lodge oatmeal (the only oatmeal worth eating, and it's not just branding, they cut the oats larger then other brands and it has a unique texture)
2 eggs, sunnyside up
i'm done with bacon for now, too much fat and salt so the meat was some thin cut steaks pan-fried in olive oil
8 ounces of orange juice
and coffee with just a drip of heavy cream.

Graham crackers broken up into a bowl with milk poured over. They get soggy real fast. I have been eating this since I was three. I almost never do it any more but I needed some comfort food.

I'm not a self respecting southerner. Delicious is delicious.

Plus, when I am in a hurry aint nobody got time for that.

Ramen w/ three beaten eggs in. I was lazy.

:2razz: bon apetit!

what are you having for breakfast?

mine :

15 grain toast with all sorts of cool seeds on it
yogurt margarine

Buttermilk french toast with Texas toast and a side of eggs (over easy), bacon, sourdough toast, and coffee. This is my big breakfast when I want to treat myself if there is a Cracker Barrel around (none near me at the moment).

Had roasted pork belly and a quinoa/rice blend for breakfast. Went to bed too early and got up too early so had time to spend a couple hours on breakfast while doing other things.
