Where’s the Beet? Veggie Burgers Even Carnivores Will Crave

I don't know any vegetarians who live on grass shakes and tofu. How many do you know?

There is nothing restrictive in life about living healthy. Quite the reverse. The healthier one is, the more options. I go hiking with friends who enjoy it...get a high out of using their body...being active. We don't feel hard-done-by. I enjoy playing soccer, hockey, throwing a football around at 60.

The key word is everything in moderation. Red meats are not bad for you. A person's diet is individual. If they eat a lot of red meat and also indulge in a lot of sugar and empty calories, and not enough veggies and fruits they may be on the road to a problem. A person that eats nothing but veggies and fruits can be on the same road. Balance is crucial to maintain a healthy life while we are here. But even with that, each of our DNA makeup, a good diet may not stop bad things from happening. You know we all die, some sooner than others. So my advice is enjoy all in moderation while you are still here. And if you have resorted to a beet burger to do it so be it, but personally I am tired of hearing all the restrictions. There are some who would like us all to be living off of grass shakes and tofu. That ain't living.

Greetings, Vesper. :2wave:

:agree: Meat is not bad for you! It contains all nine of the essential amino acids that humans need for protein, which is used for various functions by every cell in our body. If you are a vegetarian - either by choice or you have no other option, like millions of people on this planet - eating beans and corn together with a grain like rice, wheat or oats on daily basis will also provide the nine amino acids. Nature does ensure that what we need to stay healthy is available for our needs, but if we don't eat wisely, we are going to have problems with our health, stamina, endurance, and general well-being sooner or later, as you point out.

I find the real benefit shows up in the over 50 years. Most of our veggie friends are healthy, active. In contrast, a lot of daily meat eaters can't even run a half mile without gasping for breath...just not getting the oxygen circulating.

Hmmm, seems specious to me. Is it because people who are vegetarians tend to be more active and exercise more often than the average American to which obesity and lethargy dominate?

I think if you want to make a proper comparison, you'll have to eliminate all differences between vegetarian and omnivore except for the diet. Take an omnivore who does exercise and is active, compare their overall health to vegetarians who exercise and are active. I think you'll find that these differences you are trying to point out will disappear.

Me and my blow up doll girl friend love veggie burgers.

I've been a red-meat vegetarian for 25+ years, some veggie burgers are amazing, others are terrible. I usually do turkey burgers.

Its all in the seasoning...I don't miss beef and pork one bit.

Only highlighting the Purpose of this string, to probe the attractiveness of the New takes on Veggie burgers, especially, but not limited to, aging carnivores.

Pet food for rich dog owners. And really, cafeteria fries? Now, this is more like it:

Anyone ever eaten stuff that wasn't normally meant to be eaten together? :chew:
Here's my short list off the top of my head which I happen to like:

- Mashed potatoes and Ketchup

- egg rolls with guacamole
- Cheesesteak sandwich made with Philly Cream Cheese
- baked potato with Thai sweet chili sauce
- toasted peanut butter and melted butter sandwiches
I hate Cheesesteak sandwiches, even without philly cream cheese.

OK, I purposely did not include mom and pop places as well as regional pizza stores in this poll because that is what everybody would be voting for and there wouldn't be enough poll buttons for it.
So let's hear it, what is your favorite chain and why!

PS:
Tho I eat plenty of it, I do Not eat Chain store pizza.
Only once in my long life I had a stinking Dominos. That's it.
Growing up in NY and later living in NYC, it would be like going out for a can of Chef Boyardee Beefaroni.
