I Hate Light Beer!

French wine is usually dry enough to pucker your mouth permanently for the night

too dry for me...even their champagne is usually brut but if you want dry, go for the zeroes

Eh, I only drink wine when I have to, which is to say....when it's expected of me. Rest of the time? Beer, baby, BEER!

lol...if that's your worst "have to"...you have it made

Saddly, not my worst "have to", lol. Otherwise, I would 100% agree, lol!

The trick is, you can't use a non stick pan. It has to be steal, or cast iron, otherwise, they just won't brown right.

A little oil, and then let them SIT till they are READY to be flipped. SO many people think that sticking is an issue. All that means is, it's not ready to flip[ yet!
There seems to be a lot of variety in this.

My busia (grandmother) would boil them first (because they were made fresh), then lightly fry in butter (perhaps with oil?) and onions.

My pops would fry bacon first, then next fry the pierogi in the bacon fat, and finally he would top them with crumbled bacon upon serving.

Frying was for savory only (kapusta or meat). The plum were simply boiled, and served.

And to add confusion, in Polish restaurants I've seen them served in an even wider variety of ways, including boiled and topped with bacon or dill.

Sour cream is virtually always on the side, especially when serving them boiled, and cooked with small amounts of lightly caramelized onion is almost as common, with bacon being less so, but still pretty popular.

If all this frying & bacon sounds like a heart attack on a plate, it all goes further downhill when realizing my Goral dziadzia (grandfather) put lard instead of butter on his rye bread, just like in the old country! How's that for an accompaniment to fried pierogies with bacon?

I can only tolerate light beer if it is so cold it numbs my taste buds. There are plenty of foods and beverages in which I will opt for the low cal version. Beer ain't one of them.

Alcoholism and homophobia, big surprise.

Keep believing your beer makes you a man. *snicker*

I dont even like alcohol. And beer is for peasants.

.... snicker.

Beer is not just for getting drunk. If you're drinking the piss beer, then yes, the goal is to get drunk. But it's quite possible to enjoy one or two nice craft beers for the purpose of enjoying a high quality and tasty beverage.

Try Crown Larger. It is a good quality beer.

If you like craft beer then try Blue Tongue.

And when I was a kid Im pretty sure that I was slightly gay for Kirk Cameron. Also Corey Haim.

And did you guys used to consider Sean Astin to be a poor mans Corey Haim too? Im pretty sure that I was slightly gay for Sean Astin as well.

edit- I dont think that it was full gayness. It was just some kind of subconscious kid gayness maybe. Im not gay now at all.

edit- like I didnt want to make out with them or anything like that. But in hindsight Im pretty sure that I was slightly gay for those three when I was a kid.

So for the first time in months I go out with my friends and have a drink at a nearby bar. And everybody else immediately orders light beer... LIGHT BEER?! Are you freakin' kidding me? Light beer is like water with piss in it, nobody who can call himself a man drinks light beer!!! :censored

I was the only one who ordered an amber ale, I did try to order a stout but they didn't have any (stupid bar) and in the end I ordered some shots of Jack Daniels too. :drink

But seriously, I just don't understand the attraction for light beer, I really don't...

It seems a wonderful excuse for a few shots of whiskey.

It's a question of temperature to me. When it's 35C+ in the shade, what I want from a beer is refreshment more than deep flavour. You can't get a deeply pleasurable flavour sensation from an icy-cold beer. Stouts, bitters, and IPAs do not work when cold. It's horses for courses.

How else can one get lit without drinking lite beer?

This.

There is a beer out there for every job, so to speak. Hot day, just mowed the lawn, or busted my knuckles on a car, or whatever? I want me some nice, ICE cold PBR. Or Michilobe Lager. I don't think these qualify in the US as light beer, but that's because in the US, we have this terrible product called ultra light beers, targeted towards people who want to pretend to be healthy while drinking beer, lol. I had one, it tasted like water with a spritz of beer. In Europe, PBR and Michelob would be considered light beers.

On a night out with some friends, we're gonna go with something more robust on the taste buds. IPA's, double bochs, etc. And every now and then, a scotch ale.

I know what you're thinking....they're the same thing, only one is made only in Kentucky. But you're wrong. Bourbons tend to be a lot smoother than whiskey. Less sour mash flavor, less peat. Some people LIKE those flavors, but not me.

no, my point was simply that bourbon is a whiskey.

I know. Bourbon, scotch....all whiskey. But they're specific TYPES of whiskey. Those who go out and just get "whiskey" don't know what they're missing wiht bourbon, IMO.

The scots can keep their scotch.

different tastes....

some like blondes, some like brunettes

some like dark beer

some like ambers

and some like light beers

but i like your taste in bourbon

i drink Jack myself....no ice, and no mixers

Yeah I started out drinking JD with ice but now I love it neat. I've drunk other types of whiskey and even the supposedly best stuff but in the end I keep coming back to JD, its the best there is for me.

Scarred grunt here- I like light beer- really don't care what some mope (my homage to MMC) thinks of my manhood...

I don't understand the micro brews you have to chew, coat your tongue like old enamel paint, taste and texture of liquid prairie pies...

Beer snobs are even more of a joke than wine snobs- who drinks for taste???

I'd give you the same advice I give those who don't like SSM- ya don't like it don't do it, otherwise your opinion is like buttholes.... :peace

Well, that explains the alcoholism and homophobia.

Tell us, did you pray it away?
