Christmas?
Thanksgiving?
Super Bowl Sunday?

SB Sunday gets my vote because most of the food is grilled or smoked outdoors even in parts of the country where it is frigid in February (thank God I live in Houston:2wave:)

probably Thanksgiving. however, honorable mention for SB Sunday. that's deep dish pizza and beer night. i don't get a lot of real pizza.

after the pizza is gone, i generally lose interest in the game, though.

Valentine's

New Years.

All the other holidays feature the exact same crap, year in and year out. Even the SB...chicken wings, pizza, beer.

It varies from family to family, but for the most part, Thanksgiving and Christmas, even Easter, those families serve the same stuff every year.

But not so for new years. You never know WHAT you'll find on the menu at new years. And that, my friends, makes it exciting, new, and special.

I know almost as precisely what we will be having for New Years as I do Christmas or Thanksgiving--greens, black-eyed peas, hog jowls, and deviled eggs.

Dude, you just made me sad, kinda.

Every year for new years, we either go to her cousins house, her sisters, my friends, or we have it at our house.

And in any of those cases, it's pot luck, and the food is ALWAYS different. One year I tried prawns that were, I **** you not, larger than lobster tails...along with a host of other exotic things I've never tried...another year, we went all in on weird cheeses...awesome party, that one.

Every year, we all set out to try something new, and bring all of those new things together. It's fun. You should give it a whirl.

It is no sadder than having turkey on Thanksgiving or ham at Christmas/Easter. It is just part of the tradition. There are 362 other days of the year to get the foodie on.

The last few years we have been mixing up the menu for Christmas.
Prime rib, tamales, barbocoa, lingua. It's all good, better if the kids can come home.

I like Super Bowl Sunday. I'm a chips and salsa/wings/BBQ guy. I'm not really into stuffing/ham/turkey/casseroles.

For Italians, Christmas Eve is Feast of the Seven Fishes.

It's pretty awesome
