lunch deserves its rightful place alongside dinner, because occasionally, it's the best meal of the day.

so what are you having for lunch?

i'll start :

today was tortilla crusted fish, rice with cheese, and canned potatoes. this is the first time i've ever had canned potatoes, which is odd for someone in his 30s. they were actually pretty good.

When I was little kid, my best friend was Hawaiian and his large family lived right across the street. His mom used to take Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and put if over rice. It was great. I still do it once on a while.

I'll be having a 12 oz bacon cheeseburger after I finish lifting, I believe...

Granny flew in for a visit so I took her to a hotel buffet with my son. She ate a big portion of the whole roasted pig and paella, while my son (who is a budding vegetarian) had pasta with marinara sauce and just veggies- but he did have ice cream for dessert. As for me, I had roast turkey, roast beef, tuna and salmon sashimi, plus Japanese coleslaw along with roasted veggies, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes all covered in a thick peppercorn gravy, also had tempura and finally ice cream for dessert. I ain't gonna eat for the rest of the day. Burp.

Pork Tripe with Hot Pepper
Cumin Lamb

Both from a pretty authentic sichuan place that opened nearby.

Dinner was supposed to be round bone shoulder chop (lamb), braised in an improvised liquid bath. I'm thinking garlic, a little lemon, rosemary sprigs, thyme sprigs, in a bath of broth I previously made from beef knuckle bones and split beef marrow bones. Perhaps some paprika and chili powder on the exposed bits.

But I just remembered that I needed to start it in the afternoon since it takes a while. Grr. Oh well, tomorrow.

lean cuisine chicken panini

low fat bologna / provolone sandwich on 15 grain bread with a ton of seeds and **** (my favorite bread.)
