Daily exercise log

~3.5mile run. Probably walking later.

Oh! I love this idea!

Today: A little over 40 minute run on the treadmill, 3.2 miles. (I did 50 minutes yesterday so I cut it off at 40 today.)

I hope to get the motivation to start doing cardio again soon. I ran three or four days a week until last November, then I lost interest for some reason that I can't explain.

I've been skipping a lot of my workouts during the past few weeks. Just haven't been into it, and I've been dealing with some allergy and cold issues.

However, the past two days I got up early, felt great, and headed to the gym for a short workout. 30 minutes of bicep work this morning, and I'm excited right now to do a chest workout after work. My mood and motivation has totally changed in the last couple of day, for no reason that I can identify at all.

I hope you find your motivation. Whether it's running or bicycling or whatever. It's my favorite form of exercise, but I do admit to a loss of enthusiasm sometimes. LOL

I've been forgetting to post here. Ack!

I've been alternating long distance, fast as I can continuously run for 3 miles and HIITS. I usually do HIITS during the week because sometimes my schedule doesn't permit time to run every day. If I HITT, I can skip the next day and not feel bad. LOL

I do get out early each day for an hour with my dogs. I put them before me some days.

Monday : i was sick. 5k steps, and then i slept like 14 hours.
Tuesday : 15k steps
Today : 11.5k steps so far.

That is really great. Even when you're not feeling so good, you got a couple miles worth of steps.

Bumped my dead lift and bench press numbers up today.
I'm doing these increases very, very slowly.
Not particularly heavy weights, but I'm avoiding those pesky injuries.
I'm attempting to raise my regular deadlift workout weight to 225# and I used 205# today.
In addition to being a little old, I'm also tall and thin, so reps with 225 is the goal.
BP is a little tricky. I've got shoulder and elbow glitches that force me to use a very narrow grip.
I bumped up to 165# today 3 sets of 8. Would like to improve to 3X8 at 225# but it isn't likely. I'll settle for reps with 200# on the BP.

Thanks! I park a ten minute walk from work, and the facility is pretty large. Once I realized how sick I was, I had a concern that I wouldn't make it back to the car. I made it.

Ran.... just the 2.7 mile circuit.

There was a few miles of walking yesterday, at least.

14.8k steps.

14.8k steps.

What are you using to count your steps? I bought a Fit Bit in to start using in 2016. It had the rubber wrist band like a watch, but it fell apart after a year. $150 down the tubes. I refuse to buy another.

I know you can use an Iphone to count steps but I don't want to run with it. Shaking it up like that seems dangerous to the phone.

Yay for tody! I had a slog yesterday. Just managed to get in 30 minutes of running. My legs were dead. I think it had to do with my footwear the day before.

Today, 50 minutes, without stopping and I got 4 miles in! My best ever 50 minutes. My goal with this run is not speed, but time without stopping. I baby myself to make sure I get in all 50, but I've been cranking it up a bit to see if I could get to 4 miles. Goal met!

Running in high heels?

Running in high heels?

LOL I wondered if anyone would make a reference to heels.

Nah, I was being super casual and wore some Sketcher wedge/platform flip flops for a long day running around. They are kind of spongey and feel like I'm sinking with each step. They cause me to walk with a different gait or maybe with more effort to lift out of the sinking? I duno. I've felt it before when I've worn them, but this is the first time I felt it affect my running. :(

Yeah, I checked out Fitbit and rejected it because of the ridiculously high price. Instead, I bought a cheap mechanical step-counter that worked pretty well. I lost it on a camping trip. Nowadays, I try to walk 4 miles which is about 8000 steps. Not a precise count, but close enough.

A friend of ours visited and she used a low tech gizmo to count her steps. The counter seemed a little off---too many steps per mile---but she's lost 20+ pounds, so she's doing something right (Weight Watchers). Maybe Helix will tell us what sort of device he utilizes.

Just curious...what type of surface do you run on.....concrete, grass, HS/College track?

I haven't had a lot of success with pedometers. I have had trouble calibrating them. I get way too many or much too few steps. Like inert.

Congrats on the personal best.

This may disappoint you, I run on a treadmill. It's the only way I can consistently exercise due to my schedule, the weather and my rural location. In the summer, with time permitting, I run outdoors.

Just finished my 1am 3-30 run. Scared the bejesus out of my housekeeper. It seemed she woke up to some noise in the middle of the night and thought there was an intruder in the house and ended up bumping into me in the dark- she nearly woke up the whole house lol. I couldnt stop laughing.

I use a treadmill too. I live out in the tropics, and the heat is way too much if I do this outdoors. I gotta turn the AC on and a high powered vent fan just to keep myself from fainting. Plus my trusty towel is right on the handlebars because I hate it when sweat runs down my face lol

Yesterday: 3.5 miles run

Today: Full weights workout; 'cooldown' of a few songs of alternating dips w/o extra weight and horizontal pullups. Probably a nice long walk later on.

LOL! Too funny! I'd scream too if I ran into an unexpected someone in the dark! Then it would make someone laugh, too! LOL

Oh dear! Yeah. I'd melt running in the tropics. I have a fan on me too. Not high powered, but I need that flow of air across my face. I don't like the sweat running across my face either and the air seems to dull the sensation of that. LOL

Only a 2.7 mile run.

I don't know why it happens, but sometimes my calves seem to tighten up, changing my gait no matter how much I try to avoid it happening. They my ankles get tired, feet start slapping on the ground, and lower/mid back starts aching. So even though I'm breathing easily enough, I can't move at the normal pace. Really frustrating.

23,079 steps. that's close to my workday record.

When it gets too hot out west, I've got an old, old Lifecycle that I use for my fat-burning workout. Ten minutes on the bike, ten minutes on the heavy bag.
I try this rotation for an hour but usually only go for 40 minutes.
Speaking of heat, remember those wonderful spring days I was rhapsodizing about a few posts back?
They're gone..... replaced by temps in the mid 90s. Really low humidity, though.

Wow....that is an amazing number. Congrats !!!
