US officials worry paralyzing illness may grow more common

NEW YORK (AP) — One morning last fall, 4-year-old Joey Wilcox woke up with the left side of his face drooping. It was the first sign of an unfolding nightmare.

Three days later, Joey was in a hospital intensive care unit, unable to move his arms or legs or sit up. Spinal taps and other tests failed to find a cause. Doctors worried he was about to lose the ability to breathe.

Another emerging disease among children? A new polio-type disease?

The symptoms are polio-like but that's been ruled out with a spinal tap. There's many things it could be including the disorder mentioned in the article, AFM which is Acute Flaccid Myelitis. "The first real burst of AFM cases hit in 2014, when 120 were confirmed, with the largest concentrations in California and Colorado."

Diseases migrate just like people. They bring their diseases with them.

Due to third world diseases brought in by third world people, when exposing themselves to our poverty and homeless population, not to mention anti vaxxers, we are rapidly losing our public health bubble.

Chicken pox, measles, typhus, whooping cough, drug resistant tuberculosis, drug resistant gonorrhea, syphilis, out breaks of hep 1, are getting established back in the population when at one time they were virtually wiped out. This new one malady the OP is referring to is suspected to be variant of polio, but they have not isolated the virus to even be sure it's biological.

I missed the part about the child having not been vaccinated. Where in the article does it say that?
