For all the flack that McDonalds gets they have more healthy choices on their menu than most.

As a matter of fact, it's possible to lose weight eating nothing but McDonald's food.

A Diet for McDonalds fans:

Choose one and only one item for each of 4 meals a day:

Breakfast:
Egg McMuffin
Sausage Burrito
Fruit and Maple Oatmeal

Lunch
Hamburger
Cheeseburger
Eggwhite Delight

Dinner
Filet o Fish
McChicken Grilled
McDouble
Artisian Grilled Chicken Sandwich

Evening
Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad
Bacon Ranch Grilled Chicken Salad

Drink at least 10 8 ounce glasses of water or the equivalent per day.
No alcohol.

This averages out to be about 1300 calories per day, and you will lose weight if you follow the diet strictly.

I bet you would lose weight. Probably start suffering organ failure after 30 days, like that guy on "Supersize Me".
1300 calories a day, you'd have to be in a coma for that to support you, and you'd still suffer from it. Tell me it wasn't any kind of medical advice that you starve yourself, getting all your calories from crap fast food.

We're just not gonna count vitamins and minerals, right?

That stuff is loaded with additives, salt and preservatives. Better to eat home cooked meals with whole ingredients.

The only thing I would consider to eat is their salad if I was desperate. I know that is full of chemicals too.

if you want low calories as cheap as the dollar menu, get a damn can of sliced fruit at the grocery store, or some rice

there's a lot more to health than calories. And btw, few indeed go to any 'fast food' (more like too lazy to get out of the car food) for health reasons. Maybe mcdonalds should find equivalent to subway's jerry to try and lure in health nuts?

i respect more places like the "heart attack grill" restaurant with its "triple bypass" burgers. At least they're being honest, in a morbid kind of way

It's actually a fairly balanced weight loss diet. Plenty of protein and not that much in the way of carbs.

But there's no use talking to foodies.

You go ahead and try it. Tell us how it works out for you. Me, I'd have to drive 45 minutes and take a half=hour ferry ride to get a Big Mac and I'd be on the crapper 20 minutes later. Does that make me a foodie?
It's laziness, that's all it is. Shopping for food, storing it and preparing it just cuts into screen time- easier to give ten bucks to a teen-ager and get God-knows-what with the nutritional value of BBq-sauced cardboard and sawdust.
But hey, you might lose weight. Here's an idea- next time you're in MacDonalds check out the body shapes of the other customers. Healthy-looking group, I bet.

Bad plan.

Fogle's tenure with Subway ended after he was investigated for paying for sex with minors and receiving child pornography in 2015. On August 19, 2015, he agreed to plead guilty in federal court to possessing child pornography and traveling to pay for sex with minors. Fogle formally pleaded guilty to the charges on November 19, 2015, and was sentenced to serve 15 years, 8 months in federal prison, with a minimum of 13 years before becoming eligible for early release.[4][5][6]

But they sure spammed some coupons (bogo) when that was happening. 2 subs for 8 bucks was a good deal.

In the end it doesnt matter what you eat, its all about the calories. If your caloric burn is more than your intake then you will lose weight.

What if I skipped all the McDonalds and just went with straight alcohol?

Seems healthier, and more fun.

You can lose quite a bit of weight on a straight alcohol diet. I've done it before. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of nutritional value in bourbon and beer so after a week or so you generally get really sick.

I'll add a vitamin and an occasional pack of Beer Nuts.

Should be great.

I'm losing weight at 2,000-2500 calories a day plus an hour + of serious exercise. My biggest concern about that diet is that I suspect it isn't enough protein to keep from losing muscle mass. Roughly 50% of my calories come from protein (250+ grams/day), and despite my workouts, I've still lost a little muscle weight (although I think it's a lot less muscle than I would have lost if I didn't do weight training plus eat high protein).

Ever notice how people who lose large amounts of weight often still don't look quite look healthy or fit? It's because they did little to keep muscle mass, and although they have gotten much smaller, they have gone from big-fat to skinny-fat.

Absolutely!

But losing weight doesn't always mean "healthier". Thin people with terrible diets can often still have clogged up arteries, poor cardio-health, etc.

You could still lose weight. More fun, yes, I don't know so much about "healthier".

I've found ON! ("Optimum Nutrition") whey protein to be the best for protein:calorie ratio.

Best price I've found here (if you get it and find better, let me know)

https://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutr...3860135&sr=8-1&keywords=ON!+whey+protein&th=1

Doesn't have all the creatine, etc, that many protein powders have.

I've also heard about CLA (Conjugated Linolineic Acid) and HMB ("B-Hydroxy B-Methylbutyrate") as being great for retaining muscle mass while cutting weight and not having side effects, but (1) I can't speak to either point, (2) there's always a risk with "dietary supplements" not subject to FDA oversight.
