Other forums use normal, non-italic, font within the quotation boxes. I find them much easier to read than all-italics text. Can this forum change the font of quoted text to NOT be italic, or maybe provide some option for those of us wanting to remove italics from our own quotes?

Just one example post - try to read that OP in full.... There are many more of course all over...

I've oftentimes thought the same. It's especially irksome when a word or words are italicized in the original text for emphasis. This emphasis is then lost in the italicized quote box.

That said, I have to believe the italics formatting intent is to differentiate quoted text from non-quoted text.

We will most likely be making a software change soon and the new software is much easier on the eyes in general. The quotes in italics is a vB default, not sure if this can be changed or not.

I have my browser set to view the DP site at 133% magnification. That takes care of the italic script issue for me.

It does not have to be italic to differentiate. The box outline + different background color within a quote box works just fine. Please see example below.

Hopefully, you guys can check it out. Here is a random example from another forum with quote inside another quote.

"Oh, I doubt the OP is correct at all."

I'm well aware of alternate schemes, but you have to take into account that vB was initially launched in 2000.

In 2010 vB (Internet Brands) sued three former employees who developed the XenForo platform. The lawsuits were dropped in 2013.

Sorry, not sure how this applies here. Are you saying this forum cannot use what other forums are using?
