First political forum I've ever joined and I have to say it's pretty interesting here and well moderated. I received an infraction not that long after I joined, but it was just for not following the guidelines in the Breaking News threads, just needed to read the rules again. The moderator contacted me privately and was nice about it, and explained the reason why. I learn a lot here and like to hear everyone's opinions even if I don't agree with them. Kudos to admin and members, a place like this is needed and appreciated especially in these trying times! eace

I joined two other politics forums after this one, and I gotta say, they were both just awful. I haven't exactly looked hard to be sure, but I don't doubt for a second that this is one of the best politics forums on the internet.

I agree, and I've said my thanks to the mods publicly during discussions on the various forums, and privately to them, sometimes as they're handing me an infraction, that I've (almost...) always earned and agree with....

Seriously, they do a great job and I appreciate their efforts. :thumbs:

Don't know who/what 'owns' this place, but I guess we should thank them as well for setting the tone and getting that right IMO.

I did a quick browse online at other options before I signed up here. Didn't like what I was seeing, would rather not join any political forum than participate in one that was full of negativity and childish name calling from folks who appeared not to know very much about what they were saying to begin with. Life's too short.

I won't name any names while I'm so close to a two day suspension, but one of the ones I made the mistake of signing up on is clearly just a ****ty copy of this site. It's even got an off-brand [REDACTED SUBFORUM NAME], and damn near all of our banned members have washed up there. It's a steaming dumpster fire, as you might expect.

What's funny is, this is the crowd of nutters I immediately gravitated towards when I got here at age 16. The rudeness and trolling appealed to me back then, and now I've got some 20 or so banned people on my friends list. I think. It's kinda hard to read anything on my profile.

Well, I did a long browse! And I was really impressed by the infraction and appeal rules, here.

That so many of us love and respect this place during the polarized partisanship of the Trump era, is quite a testament in my opinion.

And posts like yours cause me to reassess my posting style & attitude, because I can sense it slipping a bit with the times.

Anyway, my friends list is about the same size as yours. No idea how many have been banned. I tend to accept friend requests from most anybody, barring them having any really untoward issues.

I'd kick myself out of all those clubs to make the page that much less visible, but it's just too much work. Last I counted, my friends list had 17 banned people, and that was at least a year ago. I know for a fact that I've lost at least a few more, like Kal'Stang, so it definitely has to crack 20 by now. I used to go out of my way to collect all the edgy assholes in my friends list, so I could keep better track of when **** was being stirred.

Hm. 4 banned out of 81. So, just under 5%. Considering how many guys I grew-up with IRL that became juvies or worse, my social group here seems pretty damn virtuous! I thought I'd have more.
