I'm new here, is there a prohibition against newbies posting a picture?

Last night I tried to add a graphic to a post. It was just a government BLS chart about unemployment.
But when I clicked the insert image button, the picture took over the browser screen and just froze.
There were no options for me to chose. It just sat there.
So I backed out of that screen and tried the "basic uploader" still no luck.

Is there some step, that I've missed?

Hi there Bill James and welcome to DP :peace

It's a good idea to introduce yourself to the forum https://www.debatepolitics.com/come-in-and-say-hi/

The image you are trying to insert into a post must either be available on an internet server (hot-linking), or you must upload it to your DP Profile "Album".

All images must be one of the following formats .gif / .jpg / .jpeg / .png

Try manually putting the image address between the BB Code image brackets --

Just a test
