It seems that the acceptable MSM-BN sources is a little vague. Is there a list of those that are acceptable?

From what I've see, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NYT and WaPo are legitimate. I don't bother trying to post a link from anything else because someone (probably not staff) is going to bitch that it's biased.

The last time there was an update to the BN-MSM guidelines was about six years ago. Be nice to have a little tighter “guidelines.”

Why does everyone gotta be Dan Rather?

The General Politics subforum works fine.

People make it much more complicated than it is. Does the source have a print or broadcast version? If so, it is MSM. If it is internet only, it is non-MSM. The exception to that is that wire service stories(that is, Associated Press) are MSM. If the source article is opinion, or "overly" partisan, then it is not Breaking News.

It’s like the real world, BN gets more traction/eyeballs. You can always have a seat at the second tier table, step up to the plate!

From what i understand, many members do not post in MSM due to the stringent definitions. I can see why.

Can the rules be updated? Not sure, but if they did I would hope for a grace period.

The rules are pretty clear as Redress pointed out.
