Thread titles

DP Staff,

Would it be possible to increase the character limit in the thread-title field-box?

This would be especially helpful in the news sections where the source and DP thread titles must match by rule.

This is becoming increasingly more difficult because global news media seem to be using longer article titles.

I try to mitigate this mismatch problem by using the prefix - Full Title: - before the source url/title line in the OP.

Perhaps this is a vB shortcoming and unalterable, but extra title-characters would be a much appreciated upgrade.

If you just paste the headline into the title box it will chop off all the extra. Granted, quite often that "extra" is pertinent to the topic to be discussed but it can also be posted in the body of the OP.

Which is the point of the OP. I know what happens. I'm simply asking if more characters can be allowed in the title input box.

I have temporarily added an additional 15 characters to the thread title count. We'll see how it goes on a trial basis. We may revert back if there are any issues.
