The decision not to power the carriers with a nuclear reactor isn't as simple as you make it sound.
The most obvious reason is cost to build and just as importantly cost to eventually dismantle. There's also the fact that more and more countries are not allowing nuclear-powered vessels into their ports so the UK carriers can still visit those nations. Indeed Germany may go that way as well as you've shut the nuclear power stations so it wouldn't be all that surprising.
The UK can build nuclear reactors as we have nuclear subs we just chose a conventional power source for the carriers which is based on Rolls-Royce turbine engines and I doubt a carrier is going to sneak up on anyone anyway so I'm unsure how much of a problem a noisy engine may be.
I don't know where you get the idea that the UK won't have enough F-35 as we're ordering 136 of them for the carriers so where else would we put them? 136 between 2 carriers sounds enough to me.

As for the Type 45 engine troubles yes, that's been a bit of a problem but they're all being replaced and upgraded over the next 5 years.

The situation could have escalated ( do you remember the Iranians capturing American Embassy staff in 1979 ?) but within a couple of weeks the UK personnel were back home. It was almost certain that the UK forces were ordered not to engage for diplomatic reasons.

Not just that, we also accumulate gigantic budget surplus each year and cash in.

You know what? We could even drop defense on zero and nothing would change. NATO is around us. Even if we leave NATO nothing would change, because anyone who want attack us has to attack NATO area first.

Nope, protect themself. We are sorounded by NATO members. To go Germany, Russia has to go through Poland.

We face zero risk. So we concentrate to make cash. As long situation doesnt change there is zero reason to change that.

You know what? We produce very good weapon systems and earn alot with defense exports. Using it ourself earns no money.
