Americans to be banned from Europe

"Most visitors from the US are set to remain banned from entering the European Union because of the country’s rising infection rate ..."

US visitors set to remain banned from entering EU | World news | The Guardian

We do have an obligation to protect ourselves from any more risks of Covid-19 infection. This is a welcome measure.

I liked the post but don't really like it.

I spend a good amount of time each year in Europe for business. I was in Italy in March when the pandemic hit and was quite lucky to escape.

I talked to my boss on Monday (he's in Amsterdam) and he said there looks to be no chance of me getting back this year, and likely not until after March of next year. I'm very sad.

But I believe they are doing the right thing.

Hey, good to see you made it back from Italy.

I was glad to make it back. I took a 2 month break from here after returning home to spend time with my husband and kids who were all thinking I wouldn't be able to escape. It was hairy.

Yeah, keep safe now as well.

Fingers crossed that we will all put this nightmare behind us before too long.

This part amused me;

Considering I cannot leave Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions unless I have an exemption (which is granted few and far between), visiting Europe won't be happening anytime soon. As for people wanting to visit here, Australia’s borders are closed. Only Australian citizens, residents and immediate family members can travel to Australia and they have to quarantine for 14 days in secured locations when they arrive.

I understand why these measure are being taken but at the end of the day it's awful. So many families and friends are separated from each other and who knows when we will see any sort of normality again.
Well, EU borders are meanwhile open to Australians again as of today.:)

No wonder the EU is not opening up to American travellers just yet.

T-shirt says "snowflakes don't last long in Texas...."

Why Texas is seeing a surge in coronavirus cases - BBC News

The corona crisis in Europe started in Italy and by the time Trump announced the travel ban 1,016 people had died in Italy and there were 15,122 infected people in Italy and in the rest of Europe the covid crisis had just started. So while the virus in NYC came from Europe, it can just as easily, or should I say most likely, been brought to NYC by Americans and others who traveled FROM Europe.

By the time the Travel ban from the EU went into effect only 328 NYC citizens had been infected and after that it was almost solely US citizens who brought the infection from the EU to the US. So while it may have come from the EU, it is much more likely that US citizens brought it into the US from Europe.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Up until mid-March, we had probably 25,000 European residents coming into the US every day, most of whom came through NYC. In addition to them were visitors from the UK, from where were the most visitors than any other country. Without any doubt, New York city and state were mostly impacted by travelers from Europe. From there, those travelers from Europe and the UK, and US residents, went throughout the US. Yes, many travelers were from Italy, whether Italians or US residents or what.

They look as if they couldn't even find Europe on a map.

That's a rather prejudiced statement, how do you know whether they have geographic knowledge or not? Are you judging someone purely on their looks...kinda like racists do?

Leftists in Europe and the States just try to blame Trump for everything.

I see the latest theory to do with how hard populations get hit by the virus is to do with the BCG vaccination, so it may not have anything to do with political decisions ....

"One sample that stood out was Germany, which had different vaccine plans prior to the country's unification in 1990. While West Germany provided BCG vaccines to infants from 1961 to 1998, East Germany started their BCG vaccinations a decade earlier, but stopped in 1975. This means that older Germans—the population most at risk from COVID-19—in the country's eastern states would have more protection from the current pandemic than their peers in western German states. Recent data shows this to be the case: western German states have experienced mortality rates that are 2.9 times higher than those in eastern Germany."

Preliminary study suggests tuberculosis vaccine may be limiting COVID-19 deaths

In Europe, we do not believe injecting bleach into our veins is of any use either.

They look like they might have relatives in England that they have visited.

Lol, another statement that could very easily be called racism...you lefties are so two-faced.:lamo

If they were black and someone said it looks like they may have visited relatives in Africa you lot would be be straight on your racism gig like a rat up a drain pipe.

The study is void of data.
