German court ruling could tear EU apart, warns senior judge - POLITICO

A senior EU judge has expressed his "deep concern" about a recent landmark ruling by the German Constitutional Court and warned that it risks dismantling rule of law in the EU and potentially even the bloc itself.
In an unusual public statement, shared with POLITICO, Marc van der Woude, president of the General Court of the EU, the bloc's second-highest court, described last month's ruling by the German Constitutional Court as "direct interference in the functioning of the European legal order," and warned that it could encourage some countries to leave this legal order and thereby perform a "disguised exit" from the EU.

On May 5, the German court ruled that a 2015 bond-buying program by the European Central Bank (ECB) would be illegal under German law unless the ECB can provide adequate justification within the next three months. The decision has been widely interpreted as challenging the independence of the bloc's highest legal authority, the Court of Justice of the EU, which had permitted the bond-buying program.

By saying that the Luxembourg-based EU court had acted in a “not comprehensible” way and “ultra vires,” or beyond its authority, the German judges delivered a withering assessment of their European counterparts. As a consequence, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she is considering launching an infringement procedure against Germany.

The beginning of the end? We can hope. :2razz:

Makes one wonder how high the level of frustration must be for the frenzied haters of the EU to find arousal at every snag that comes about.

To then, time and time again, be denied climax.

Only to yet embark again upon the OP's voodoo prayer ritual in tedious repetition, again with the same outcome.:lamo:lamo

Looks to me as though the USA is falling apart these days far more than the European Union.

Ah, just a few riots. We have them every few decades or so, but we'll be back on track in a few months.

Europe on the other hand, you have their own member states closing borders with each other, and now the Germans(!) themselves are openly questioning the authority of the ECB. The corrupt, fascist EU is finished.

This isn't a loaded question, I'm simply curious on which aspects of the EU you feel represent a form of fascism.

Could you give a few examples?

I'd rather deal with one big country than all those little countries.

Temporary border closings are necessitated to meet the threat of Covid-19. Perhaps your newspapers do not keep you informed.

Just as a heads-up, you're asking this of someone who, in clear inability to find the way to the conspiracy forum, entertains all other forums with his convictions that both AGW and Covid-19 are hoaxes.

But ask away by all means. ;)

We dont close off our states in America even during lockdowns because we are united and believe in freedom of movement for our citizens, unlike the EU.

A record number of Covid-19 deaths have been recorded in the USA.

LOL there have been plenty of deaths in the EU member states, stop pretending there isnt any.

I won't waste any ink denying that I ever made such a stupid claim.

Your whattaboutism is a stupid claim, so congratulations.

And PoS,

those examples of some aspects of the EU that you feel represent a form of fascism?

A checkpoint doesnt mean a state border is closed. Not very good with English are we?

Its pretty obvious when the bureaucrats in the EU demands a member state do things they dont want in order to conform to their fascist ideals.

Because it's hard to keep up with your corrupt fascist President's antics I guess you missed the story whenTrump proposed to close off New York, New Jersey and parts of Rhode Island.

Let alone the irony that EU states retain the sovereignty to close their borders whereas yours are reduced to turning people away at 'checkpoints'.

Irony being that here EU member states have been doing exactly what they certainly DO want, by closing their respective borders.

With protestations from Brussels having no significance as in amounting to squat in supposed power.

But then the offerings of the poster in question here amount to the same, certainly when his knowledge of the EU is asked........................and on the question of who is good with English, somebody buy him the odd comma AND apostrophe.

Trump says a lot of stupid things that never come to pass. There have been no state border closures in the US, at all. We remain a free country, unlike your beloved EU.

The EU isn't a country.

Why should we Europeans order our affairs to suit your convenience?

The EU isn't a country.

Its a bloc that advertises itself as having free movement and trade, so your silly nitpicking fails.
