Batu Khan died long before Moscow became a Principality. In fact Batu Khan burned Moscow down and killed many who lived there.

And Turkey definitely did not descend from the Horde.

Again with the lies.

1. Despotism isn't a form of government. Despotic governments existed long before the Mongols and long after.
2. Mongol laws as in what?
3. Moscow wasn't "given" to Muscovy and was burned down at least once by the Horde.
4. The "Bulgarian" language wasn't "given" by the Mongols.
5. The "Czar" wasn't "given" by the Mongols.
6. Taxes weren't "given" by the Mongols.
7. The Nestorian Chuch came before the Mongols.

Lets look at the Litwin claims in this post....

The Mongols gave a "despotic form of governance".

Despotism isn't a form of government.

Despotism is a country or political system where the ruler holds absolute power. This describes many, many non-Mongolian governments through history.

The Pharaohs for example. The Roman Empire. English and French kings. Various Principalities. The Grand Duchy of Lithuania was likely a despotism. Despot was also an Imperial title under the Byzantines. Despots ruled over parts of the empire called Despotates. The colonists even mentioned despotism in the Declaration of Independence.

In the 18th century benevolent despotism emerged. Maria Theresa of Austria, Frederick the Great of Prussia, Catherine the Great of Russia...

So, no.

Despotism isn't imported from the Mongols.

As to Mongol Laws...

I ask that Litwin define what he means by this.

And "given" Moscow.

Moscow was a small trade city when the Mongols first arrived. It was burned down by Batu Khan and later rebuilt. It was one of many city/states (all of the former Kievian Rus plus others) that paid tribute to the Golden Horde. As it grew as a city it prospered as the rest of the cities declined. It was able to stop the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (who also paid tribute to the Horde) from stealing any more land from the former Kievian Rus.

Moscow/Muscovy later rose up against the Horde.

Now the "Bulgarian language" nonsense.

Russian isn't Bulgarian. Russian descended from the language of the Kievian Rus. Bulgarian is completely different.

What they have in common is the Cyrillic script. It is used in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and Northern Asia. It DEFINITELY isn't of Mongol origin.

According to HISTORIANS the term Czar comes from the Byzantine Empire. Caesar by another name.

Mongols didn't "give" the RUSSIANS the word Czar.

That is stupid talk.

Taxes have been around since long before Jesus Christ. In fact Mary and Joseph were traveling so that they could be counted and assigned taxes.

Russian descended from the Kievian Rus. Over the HUNDREDS OF YEARS the languages diverged. Ukraine and Belarus were influenced by the Poles and Lithuanian.

The only thing "Bulgarian" is the writing. Which Ukraine and Belarus is based on as well.
