Round of applause for the NHS

You're just trying to make things difficult for us. What happens when Trump hears about this? Now we're gonna have to clap or he'll do something else terrible.

It would be the loudest and bestest clap

Clap For Our Carers: How thousands of Britons thanked the NHS with a national round of applause

Did anyone participate in this tonight? It was amazing in my town, it really brought a tear to the eye to hear how many people were out cheering and clapping. It’s great to see how proud everyone still is in our NHS.
I could have done the Spanish version, if I lived in a village or town. With the nearest neighbor around 1 km away it would have been pretty pointless though.

But it seems most countries in Europe are doing it, I certainly saw footage from France, Germany and Italy.

As to pride in the NHS, one will have to see. Seems to me more to have been gratitude towards the heroes working their butts off against the impossible odds that the health system (better said past governments) have left them with.

Just be sure not to catch it.

I think there is also still an element of pride in the NHS. People are also still very protective of it as well.

I'm afraid even so would do no good. I no longer believe there exists capacity to change, no matter what we give Baby Twumpy.

You guys got your own clown; so, good luck and nice to support your first responders.

Oh, I have nothing against the NS at all, just against how it's been left in the lurch all these past years.

Kind of ironic it was the idea of a Dutch woman (Annemarie Plas)

It struck me while I was out there clapping that if more of the people out there hadn't voted for a series of Tory governments that systematically underfunded and fragmented the NHS over the last decade, then maybe we wouldn't be quite so badly off in terms of ventilator/staff/PPE shortages!

Brexit passed you by? The many workers in the NHS from the EU fearing for their job security watching Boris standing outside no.10 clapping and spouting his usual shìte?

He tested positive today! On the plus side, we don't get the daily vacuous performance at the podium, on the other hand it's replaced by Dominic Raab, a nonentity who makes Johnson look like an intellectual. He's the one as Brexit secretary, who "hadn't quite grasped the significance" of cross-channel trade (with Europe) to the UK economy.

Certainly not in defence of the Tories here, but it's not just the UK that have seen those shortages.

It clearly appears that too many other countries have also voted unwisely.

That still doesn’t make this ironic and has absolutely nothing to do with Brexit. Also millions of people voted to remain.

Whatever. Pick the bones outta this:

This is on top of the sheer bloody incompetence of these Brexiter goons!

I wholeheartedly agree with him to the point that it infuriates me the level of neglect for those up front.

I'm not even going to bother looking at figures for politician's expenses since January.

Also, Europe as a whole during February literally sat there with it's thumb up its backside.

Such a tragic waste of such precious time!

The NHS has already lost hundreds if not thousands of European born staff who had enough of May's "hostile environment", coupled with the Brexit vote. This from last year before coronavirus.

NHS winter crisis fears grow after thousands of EU staff quit | Society | The Guardian

It's NEXT winter that will really hit hard...

How quickly can Dyson manufacture perfectly working (if overpriced) ventilators and how quickly can we get people to run them and work in our hospitals....

Not only Johnson, and Matt Hancock the Health Secretary, but the Chief Medical Officer for England have all got Coronavirus! You couldn't make it up!
The strange little man who pops up on TV to warn us all not to go out and spread the disease, HAS the disease!

i think it was rather convient timing ie the whole sham about the EU ventilator scheme and not having to answer difficult questions when interviewed neither of them coughed, spluttered or sneezed so i'm not convinced
