Corona in Europe - and also worldwide

Glenn Beck is a proven liar and Gregory Rigano even more so.

Rigano’s description of chloroquine’s effects is largely based on a single study from France that tested its use on a group of only 20 people. Six additional patients were also given the treatment but dropped out of the study before its completion: Three were transferred to intensive care, one died, one left the hospital and another stopped treatment because of nausea.

The Hucksters Pushing A Coronavirus ‘Cure’ With The Help Of Fox News And Elon Musk | HuffPostCoronavirus and chloroquine: Has its use been approved in US? - BBC News

I'd never heard of Glenn Beck or Gregory Rigano prior to this, and I must admit some of the names they were dropping in gave the interview some credence.

Those links you provided paint an overall clearer picture.

There goes that little glimmer of hope running out the door.

better that than snake oil salesmen adding to the problem even further.

Stick to the credible outlets, IOW professionals.

Social media and the likes of the blurb-tube to be avoided at all cost.

Full lockdown it is, has to be done. Hope you all stocked up on booze.

Full lockdown it is, has to be done ~

Lived through this in another country, never expected to see this in the UK.

Knew it was coming but still a huge shock to the system, 3 weeks solid at the least.

Unfortunately (for Boris) the police want more clarity - the head of the Police Federation was very unhappy about mixed messages from the Govt and they want clearer instructions on thier powers and what they have to do.

Boris really needs to pull his finger out and go full lockdown and hard.

Just to address

Gary Neville phrased it nicely today by saying that a day-by-day video composition of everything BoJo has uttered on the matter in the last two weeks, most likely would get him committed.

Well, he didn't exactly say that last bit but that's how I understood it.

Bumble bee flies straighter lines.

With the farcical scenes in the UK with regards to the London Underground, it's hard to imagine how this virus isn't going to run riot.

There's far too many people still on the move, ignoring the social distancing, or being forced into close proximity of others.

All rather shocking!

It's forced Boris immunity, errr I mean herd immunity.

So, as of today, Austrian customers are compelled to wear face masks when entering shops. The idea behind it being that the masks will prevent the wearer from spreading the virus, should s/he be infected.

Frenzied activity designed by the government to show itself as taking yet another measure, the effect being no different (and certainly providing no additional advantage) from keeping one's 2 meter distance to others while staying at home the rest (bulk) of the time.

What these masks don't do at all is protect the wearer against catching the bug from others.

Everytime I see the latest updates, I am amazed. 1 year ago, everything was blithely and viciously Brexit vs Remain and here we are with everything so up in the air it's unrecognisable.

Yeah, nothing like a pandemic to create new perspective.

And just wait til this is overcome in whatever measure for the true bitchfest that will then ensue over whoever did too little too late.

Heck, it's going on in that Covid forum already that I'm not entering 'cept by mistake.

Not that the reigning UK clown wasn't addressed in here as well but when everybody screwed up more or less thruout the whole world, it all gets kind of tiresome.

A 3D printed valve is helping turn cheap (compared to proprietary engineered and approved solutions) snorkelling masks into half of the non-invasive CPAP ventilator system. (Still need the pumps that drive the oxygen) but these solutions are good to see. Full endo-tracheal ventilators are still needed but for those who can use less invasive support, this is useful.

there is still no death in Turkey.I think europeans should learn how to wash hands and get into house without shoes
Dr mehmet öz teaches it

Today, Turkey has the fastest growing rate of infection.

you couldn't make it up the US threatening to sue China for hoarding PPE when America are telling US companies that they cannot sell their PPE products outside of the USA and America's antics of highjacking shipments of PPE to other countries including Canada, France, Germany and Sweden and blocking supplies to Cuba pot calling the kettle black springs to mind

I trust information coming out of Peking about as much as I trust that coming out of the Kremlin.

As far as I can see, all this misinformation will ultimately disrupt global attempts to end the pandemic.

A peculiar tactic to me, or maybe I just don't understand some kind of bigger picture going on.

I'll excite myself over that some other time.

Beyond which, the current free for all is universal. German federal authorities (forgot which state) confiscated a batch of masks from a German 3M factory some weeks ago and it went practically unnoticed.

The only good thing about all this is the lesson to be taken that "essentials" need to be produced at home and not in friggin' China just because it's cheaper there.

A lesson that will hopefully have a longer life span than this crisis.

Also, the French pulled a similar stroke with the Spanish.

Sweden were involved in the supply chain, and have since decided to operate out of Belgium to stop it happening again.

IC:

For what it's worth, (and it's not worth much) historical changes often come as cascades even if the build-ups to the cascades are gradual. It's very disorienting and disconcerting until a new equilibrium and a new familiarity is arrived at.

I'll shut up now.

Cheers and be well.

India's figures for the virus are not exactly telling of the extent of their cases.

With a population of around 1.3 billion, I find it impossible to believe there's only 7600 cases with just 250 deaths, and only 875 new cases yesterday.

I know it's difficult to get exact numbers from any country, as it's just not possible, but India's are highly askew.

I don't think they're flat out lying, like the Chinese. It's more to do with their slapdash approach.

~ until a new equilibrium and a new familiarity is arrived at ~

reading that there aren't any vaccines for at least 4 coronaviruses that afflict humans, this new equilibrium might be quite scary.
