They're much more stringent than the US. Clearly that didn't stop this guy. It's almost like determined nutjobs will get their killing done no matter what laws there are against it.....

Not really. Abortion is a far bigger public health crisis, especially in minority communities (almost more african americans have been murdered by abortion since Roe V Wade than existed in the US at the time of Roe V Wade

I can't find any evidence of a mass shooting in the US in the last week, other than this weekend, where a drive-by shooting hit six people (but didn't appear to kill anyone) in.... oh wait, that was.... Chicago.

Not getting laid in 18 years hardly leads to the default position of suddenly killing people that are of primarily Turkish and Kurdish roots.

The authorities are working on the assumption of a xenophobic motive, possibly fueled by right wing extremism.

Germany's Nazi party AfD has already denied that its xenophobic propaganda might have helped the perp along, in the process going along the convenient road of calling him "simply" mentally disturbed.

Well, that is hardly a distinction, seeing how all xenophobic killers are mentally disturbed anyway, be they jihadists that seek the destruction of all unbelievers or racist bigots that seek to destroy anyone not sufficiently Aryan/White/German. That mental impairment doesn't even require pursuing homicidal tendencies, alone adhering and furthering any such ideology will do nicely.

Well not quite.
In 2017 there was a 5.5 increase in violation of gun laws.
Germany and two other countries in the EU were the only ones that failed to reduce crime rates.
I love it when people compare the US with other countries. It’s like US is the only country that has to deal with social issues.
The US is more diverse than Germany so there are more social issues to deal with.
I’m surprised the left doesn’t compare the US with Liechtenstein more often.

Such a tragedy for all eleven souls. My condolences to all Germans, Turks and anyone else killed or injured in this demented killing spree.

When insanity is mixed with pernicious, pathological ideology and enabled by lethal technology, the world dies in increments. Deal with the mentally ill effectively, suppress the racist ultranationalism completely and better restrict the weapons from the hands of those likely to use them to cause carnage and misery.

Evidently you need some instructions on how to search the internets. It took about 30 seconds to find that there have been EIGHT mass shootings (four or more people shot) since Feb 14th.

  1. The Chicago shooting Feb 14
  2. Seven shot at a street race in Memphis Feb 15
  3. Four shot in New Orleans Feb 15
  4. Five shot, one dead, Hartford CT Feb 16
  5. Four shot, one dead, Midland TX Feb 16
  6. Five shot, one dead, Pensacola FL Feb 16
  7. Four shot, two dead, Port Gibson MS Feb 17
  8. Four shot, Philadelphia Feb 19

It took much longer to type this comment than it did to find the stories.

We have largely banned smoking in bars. If Germany had joined the 21st Century there would be a lot less blood on its communal hookahs.

You've gone from making absolutist argument to diminish how extreme US gun homicide rates are for developed nations.....to...moving the goal post to mass shooting probability.

in 2017, 18 people died from lightening strikes, gun homicides accounted for 15,549 deaths, and that looks like 863 times as many. And when I think about it, I can live without a gun....water and weather, not so much.

For those possibly more interested in factual argument than in idiotic comments,

1) smoking is prohibited in all bars and restaurants in Germany.

2) Hookahs (Argileh) are vaping instruments designed (supposed) to purify the smoke that would otherwise pass into the closed environment of a shisha bar as the same contaminant that cigarettes or pipes would emit.

My argument has never changed- mass shootings remain a statistical anomaly and to claim that its somehow an epidemic that only happens in the US is a total lie.

Germany didn't ban 'guns'. I have shot with German civilians in competitions, get emails about their hog and deer hunts. Might want to put the broad brush down... :peace

Your argument tries to move the goalpost.

First mass shootings can't be swept under the rug with a silly numbers game. No one is saying the epidemic of mass shootings ONLY occurs in the USofA, but rather you can make good bank betting on each mass shooting happens in the USofA.

Lose a few, win most... :peace
