A black African man says, "we're no better than our Viking ancestors", as blonde women make sad, disappointed faces to learn that there is no such thing as Scandinavian culture, its all been stolen from China, Turkey, Denmark, and Germany, and others.

The video is overwhelmingly unpopular on YouTube, where it's received 9k dislikes. Have you noticed an increase in political or sociological propaganda finding its way into advertising? Given the unpopularity of such ads, why are companies like SAS agreeing to put such propaganda into their advertising? Most million-dollar companies hire advertising firms which create advertising for them, so its the advertising firms who're injecting propaganda into ads.

You need a good R vs D topic in order to get you excited. This thread isn't for you.

"What is truly Scandinavian?" the narrator asks.

"There is no such thing", replies two Scandinavian girls in unison.

This is propaganda aimed at an indigenous people, and used to sell airline tickets? That is what's wrong.

You've graduated to vicarious fake victimization now, eh?

You really have no self awareness, do you? Either it's that, or you have no capacity for shame.

Well, that was a fast turnaround! SaS pulled the video from its YouTube channel only 45 minutes after I started the OP. Lol, maybe it managed to reach 10k dislikes in that 45 minutes. Tough luck for them however, the video has been copied to Twitter, where it will live on.

When the thread starter finally finds out that his ideology is just as much an import to the US (primarily from Germany), worlds will shatter.

Goes for the total lack of humor as well, seeing how the Third Reich thugs were mostly devoid of that as well.

Indigenous Scandinavians my bloody foot. That's about as funny as the idea of indigenous English (never mind Yanks).:lamo

My worldview hardly varies from that of my country's founders, especially Washington. Do you think Washington would have given a second thought to these propaganda merchants and their putrid product? Of course not. He defeated the British, who were expert propagandists themselves.

Anyone who deviates from your little cult of globalism is a Third Reich sympathizer, including just about everyone who has ever lived, considering that in all of world history, there's only been half a century or so where European societies have been under the spell of multinational interests.

Right, current Scandinavians trace their ancestry back 14,000 years to the era when permanent settlement became viable, during the Stone Age. Yet again, according to your logic, a country that was colonized in the 20th century, and made official in 1948, consists of an indigenous people reclaiming land. Nevermind the fact that this ersatz indigenous tribe are mostly European, while their sacred holy land resides outside of Europe! You're one to talk about indigenous peoples, aren't you oh self appointed expert?

I recall reading where NYC banned a hand sanitizing ad campaign in their subway that featured how many germs were on the subway seats and turnstiles. The best way to sell soap isn't to tell people they are stinky and dirty. I suspect that is why this youtube reportedly got 9K downvotes.

Or now that Joe Biden is out of a job, he could start doing commercials for Jenny Craig: "hey fat...you need portion control". Lol.

Everything apparently, which is why it was pulled down.

Third time.

Please share what was incorrect in the video.

There is a unique Scandinavian culture, replete with language, customs, architecture, history, food, and more. To point to Swedish meatballs and say that the existence of ground meat made into balls and cooked in other cuisines negates 14000 years of Scandinavian existence is the height of absurdity.

With none of your tangential rant above taken anything from the silliness of having deemed it necessary to grace us all with this stupid thread.

Despite your forays into history remaining, I'll readily admit, as amusing as always. Like, for example (and to cut thru all the other crap) your idea of there having been ANY human settlements in Northern Europe 14,000 years ago, seeing how the Ice Age would still need at least another 2,000 years to fade.

On the issue of tracing back to one's ancestors (and I'll address that as the last but one point of this joke here), these are yours:

Erste Afrikaner.jpg.

and before you have a fit over this contravening your White Supremacist faith, they're everyone else's as well.

Lastly (killing three birds with a stone) Washington was English, the state you live in had Spanish as its primary language long before your lot turned up there, and my pointing to your worship of fascists has nothing to do with whether you agree with any outlook I might hold or not.

I merely reiterate what you so aptly demonstrate by your very self.

The height of absurdity actually lies in you fooling yourself into the belief that you know anything about Scandinavian existence, let alone history.

Topped, however, by your apparent incapacity to see a tongue-in-cheek feature for what it is (IOW precisely that).

Naw, not you. YOU have to turn this into yet another one of your insane conspiracy theories over how everyone is out to get you by taking your "Supremacy" away from you.

"Everyone" including BTW the very people you constantly gripe about residing in the very state that your lot took from them in the first place.

Like "Germanics" (not the same as Germans as the imprecise language you're saddled with continuously implies) migrating from the East took much of Europe from the Celts who'd taken it in turn from someone else.

History, amigo. Acquaint yourself with it for a change.

You'd best free yourself from the notion that everybody lives on the blurb tube.

Or that any votes given there (good or bad) amount to anything of significance in RL. That goes for FB as well and actually extends to here.

Scandinavians travel, they travelled and conquered as vikings and they overwhelmingly love to travel to hot tropical countries - probably as a counter to the long dark winter. A friend of mine in Stockholm always heads off to Thailand with her family every year for holiday. That is behind the message of the video - so, as "feldermaus" asks - what is incorrect about the video?

~The video is overwhelmingly unpopular on YouTube, where it's received 9k dislikes ~

Youtube videos can become the target of white supremacists and looking at your post later where it was pulled - just goes to show there are over 9K ignoramuses out there who don't understand Scandinavian history.

Re: Propaganda in Advertising- Scandinavian Airlines Ad Declares 'No Such Thing' as Scandinavian Cul

Just about everything.

Greeks didn't invent rule of the people. Switzerland didn't invent parents taking time off for new kids. Persians didn't invent mills. Germans didn't invent the wheel. Turks didn't invent rye, bread, or ground meat. The Dutch didn't invent putting stuff on bread. The Chinese didn't invent licorice. Austrians didn't invent the cake.

The Scandinavian versions of the inventions mentioned in the video are different from what is claimed to be the originals, but those "original" versions are not original either. They are simply new versions of, and uses for, stuff that already existed beforehand. You could of course claim that derivative works are only unoriginal when Scandinavians do it, but applying uneven standards of evidence would be unlikely to accomplish anything but expose one as a racist.

Summa summarum:
Ad made by super-white people indirectly insinuates that Greece, Turkey, China, etc. have no cultures of their own, while insulting their core customers.
(No surprise there. SAS aren't exactly famous for making smart business decisions.)

On the positive side, I'm fairly sure the paperclip and pre-copyright-borrowing-of-ideas claims are spot on.

Strange situation. SAS took down the video because they suspect a coordinated cyber attack against them.

Sent from my Honor 8X

Cultures and peoples don't exist in hermetically sealed vessels, walled off from one another. All cultures are full of borrowed ideas and practices. Cross-pollination of cultures is what creates new cultures all the time.

Almost all cultures are a snapshot, a moment in time for a people or a nation. Over long periods of time cultures change radically or evolve slowly into something new and different. A modern Swede has almost nothing in common with farmer/herder Jomsvikings from the 9th Century. So in the long run all cultures don't exist for any length of time as they are always transforming and evolving/changing.

In these two senses the OP's cited video is spot on.

Cheers.
Evilroddy.
