The Canucks - some of them, anyway - will get a kick out of having some resident royals, I suppose, since they don't seem like they'll be much of a financial burden, if any.

'lady Di' was never fit to be a 'royal' or anything beyond a narcissistic publicity hound. Or indeed anything which demanded even a dim spark of intelligence or an education beyond grade school.

Markle was welcomed unreservedly by the UK public. naive fools like me are on record as shying she would be a great asset to the Monarchy and that her mixed 'race' origins were a real bonus. It is sad that she has tuned out to be just another celebriddy who thinks she's entitled to a billionaire life style.

My concerns for her and the simpleton Harry are limited as to who will get custody of the dogs. Good riddance to them both - H&M, not the dogs.

Yeah I agree, the racism thing is overblown by the media, just like climate change. I think Harry and MM realize that the Monarchy will ultimately stop giving them free money in the future and so they want to strike out on their own, I see nothing wrong with that. At least theyre being prudent.

I read in blind items months ago about Markle's intent to "monetize" her position and her taking money under the table third-party via friends such as Jennifer Meyer.

I am talking mostly about the horrendous intrusive UK press. There are few worse press corps in the free western world that are that intrusive and scummy.

Let's just limit that to the UK tabloid scene and not accuse the press landscape in general.

But as far as the former is concerned, I agree it's practically unmatched in despicable conduct.

I know, not the serious press corps, but in Europe there are few countries with a bigger tabloid scene than the UK. How they hacked that phone from Milly Dowler, giving her poor parents hope that she was still alive when she was already dead.

Many Americans commenting in the thread are neither aware of, nor apparently care a whit about the abuse Meghan Markle has received from the Brit tabloids.

But let a Brit media source like the Guardian or the Independent criticize Trump and they scream to the high [Evangelical] heavens about unfairness.

I don't think I claimed the study of genetics was only for the elites did I ? If it came across that way I apologize for being unclear. I think race has been a key component in the toolbox of the elites of all stripes and has been used to good effect in the concept known as divide and conquer. Just like class ,religion or political inclination can and have been used to keep the 1% ruling the other 99. In a functioning democracy that stands out like black balls on a white dog to me

Had to laugh the other day when the first correspondent the BBC interviewed on this whole shebang was a Daily Mail "Royal Correspondent..."

The whole thing with Megan and her baby bump vs Kate's treatment when she had a baby bump is one of the more obvious differences in how Megan was treated by some British newspapers. Like Brexit however - once Harry and Megan move to Canada there will be a new target for the less educated British public to get all frothed up at the mouth over.

Of course, the world might be on fire (both literally and figuratively) but the black bitch American upstart princess is a much more important subject than millions of Australian dead animals, dead Australian citizens, the downing of the airplane, the killing and response of Iran, no, no, no, no, that is not a subject to get the old Brits and the racially charged younger Brits riled up, Meghan alone will do to get that response (and sales figures).

I wish the couple the best and have no doubt "We, the People" did a good thing by booting out the Monarchists. :)

I forget what movie or show it was, maybe "The Royals" on Netflix, but one line was by a younger brother who lamented that his only job was to "be the spare". Harry is number six in line for the throne. Rather than waiting around for an impact event, and betting he survives when numbers 1 through 5 don't, I suspect he wants his own life.
