British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says 74 convicted terrorists released early from prison in the United Kingdom will have their license conditions reviewed.

The UK Ministry of Justice confirmed the figure, launching a review.
Johnson says that eliminating early release would have prevented the deadly stabbing that occurred on Friday.

Liberal Democrats deputy leader Ed Davey said on Sunday that he was "alarmed" at Johnson's reaction to the London Bridge attack. "In the middle of an election, we shouldn't be making political capital out of a tragedy, and he's doing that, and he's doing that in a way which is misleading people about what the law actually says," Davey said, according to the outlet.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called for an investigation into Khan and said there should be additional funding for mental health services. He also warned against "knee-jerk legislation," adding that the United Kingdom could "pay a price later."

Why is not appropriate for Johnson to remark about the 74 convicted terrorists walking the streets of Britain? The government never bothered to inform its citizens that terrorists were free to roam around beside them in public. Can anyone provide a convincing argument that Johnson should just keep mum about this?

In view of the utter ignorance you perpetually display on things European (in general) or, here, British in particular...................you hardly appear qualified to comment on any of it.

But for those here that might have actually real interest, the Liar-in-Chief of the party under whose reign the current "licencing" issue came to its fullest fruition, is perhaps the last person who should be shooting his mouth off right now.

Seeing how his dishonest spout of “His release was necessary under the law because of the automatic early release scheme under which he was sentenced – that was the reality – and that was brought in by Labour with the support of Jeremy Corbyn and the rest of the Labour party.” conveniently ignores that Khan was jailed in 2012 under an indeterminate public protection (IPP) sentence, a system scrapped under the Conservative-led government the same year.

But hey, it's election time and pathological liars can't be expected to suddenly change, whether it's in the UK or here or anywhere.

1. I understand that the restrictions on free speech in the UK is even more severe than they are here in the United States.

a. There are some things that Americans can say that are illegal to say in the UK. E.g., some Americans say the rudest things about our First Lady. In the UK, however, she was able to collect considerable damages for what a newspaper claimed.

2. I hope that I am wrong, but I feel that the situation in the UK has passed the point of no return.

I think the argument is that Johnson shouldn't be out to punish 74 people who weren't involved in this attack because he cannot punish the one who was. That seemed to be the sentiment of one of the dead's father at least.

relax...............your hope is fulfilled.

I'm afraid your assessment of the situation in Britain is correct TheParser. A man who was lauded as a hero in the 2017 London Bridge Attack for literally fighting the terrorists with his bare hands and receiving 8 stab wounds in the process, was ordered to attend 'de-radicalization' classes. These are the same type of classes the UK orders actual terrorists such as Usman Khan to attend.

He was jailed for 5 weeks, after breeching conditions of his probation, which was all related to a statement he made. Britain won't survive this kind of insane political correctness, which jails heroic men alongside Islamic radicals.

Even Johnson's opponent, Jeremy Corbyn, said the practice of early prison release for terrorists needed to be reviewed. A grieving father of one of the victims Tweeted about not politicizing the event, but others like Sadiq Khan jumped right in to blame the whole affair on the Conservatives. Khan and his ilk seem perfectly willing to accept that terrorism is now a part of life in Britain, just as in Pakistan. The important thing here is that lessons are learned, policies changed, and other families are spared the tragedy of losing a child to terrorism.

What does free speech have to do with Khan being sentenced under a Conservative Govt which had ample time to repeal sentencing laws? You didn't read post two did you?

Prove Sadiq Khan is wrong then.

Back to lying again I see.

What a load of bumpf and yet another example of your perpetual lies.

The man was given a restraining order for harassing his 80 year old mother and breached it.

There is no mention whatsoever in the article you cite of him being ordered to attend 'de-radicalization' classes.

Lies, lies and more lies from you.

Yes, certainly a distortion of the article here.

A brave man during the attack, absolutely.

Apart from that he sounds like just another low life football thug with his brains in his hands.

The article also says he was spared jail last year for spitting at a black photographer and shouting abuse in 2017, and later launched into a racist outburst at his local MP’s office in Brixton. He later admitted racially aggravated common assault and religiously aggravated harassment.

He was then caught with 230gms of amphetamine and was sentenced to a 12-month community order.

Heroic or not, he deserves the punishment.

Which situation in the UK are you referring to?

Thank you for your question, but I do not believe that I am allowed to be specific.

Have a nice day!

If the Tories were so interested in these kinds of things, well they have been in power for quite a few years. This policy change is just window dressing to the make the UK buffoon sound tough and decisive.

Sure but I think the concern about Johnson's statement would be more akin to ex post facto treatment of prisoners already in the system as opposed to future people convicted. Kind of the way prisoners already sentenced in the US were still eligible for parole once all the states that abolished parole did so. Just people who were convicted and sentenced after the changes happened were not eligible for parole in those states so attrition ended up whittling down the number of people who still had parole rights.

Are you for real?

You're allowed to be as specific as you want.

Perhaps I can assist?

Do you think the immigration situation in the UK is past the point of no return, if so where is the point of no return?

"Larner has since been added to the United Kingdom’s “Prevent” program, a watchlist for those deemed to have anti-Islamic tendencies. Authorities claimed that they feared Larner was at risk for extremist behaviors because he had been contacted by individuals with ties to anti-Islamic groups.

Larner has been monitored by authorities and forced to take deradicalization courses.

“They treat me like a terrorist but I’m not political at all,” Larner told the Sun.

Larner had his first run-in with anti-extremist authorities in January 2018 after he was filmed yelling racist slurs and spitting on a black man who was attempting to take his picture. During the explicit rant, he told the man, “People like you stink.”

He was sentenced to eight weeks in jail and a 50 euro fine for his racist rant, but the judge delayed his sentence for one year, given that his crime had taken place just months after his heroic actions. Larner ended up serving his time 5 weeks after the ruling after he breached the requirements of his suspended sentence, which required that he attend anger management and diversity awareness courses."

UK requires hero who was stabbed on London Bridge in 2017 to undergo ‘deradicalization’ to avoid Islamophobia

Perhaps Larner has some form of PTSD, caused by being stabbed 8 times by the terrorists he fought off, and the insane government that treats him as if he's now a potential terrorist.

They're damned if they do, damned if they don't. The frilly pie-in-the-sky idea of rehabilitating terrorists back into society is something only Labour supporters could believe in. I see a lot of old labour supporters suddenly acting piously and casting blame over policies that are generally leftist ideas, like cutting criminals a break on their prison terms, and letting terrorists and heinous criminals back out into society after a few years locked up. Some of you were even in favor of bringing ISIS fighters back to Europe.

The article tells you exactly why he became subject of suspicion when he was contacted by certain groups. Probably the same kind of groups you belong to. Anyhow - reading actually helps - you should give it a try sometime. "Larner was at risk for extremist behaviors because he had been contacted by individuals with ties to anti-Islamic groups."

Larner can't control who gets his phone number and rings him up. None of us can.

"Larner has been monitored by authorities and forced to take deradicalization courses.

Do you support these Soviet-styled methods then? Answer honestly please.

Maybe you shouldn't jump to allegations of dishonesty when you know absolutely nothing about the circumstances of the story.
