Short version: a Saddam Hussein era military officer, who is Iraq's current Defense Minister, used a fake name to pose as a refugee in order to gain entrance to Sweden in 2009. After being made a Swedish citizen, he collected welfare payments and housing subsidies for him, his wife and children for several years.

To top it all off... he's wanted for crimes against humanity.

That's false. We do know what he's accused of- obtaining citizenship under a false name, illegally obtaining child and housing benefits, and collecting benefits while living abroad.

They speculate that he might have gotten child or/and housing benefits when he was not entitled to them and the living abroad part is registration issue to avoid double taxation.

Its not common to have the Defense Minister and former ranking military officer of a country collecting welfare and housing subsidies under a fake name in another country. There is a lot of fraud involved with refugees in Europe however. It's no coincidence that al-Shammari used the refugee program as cover to sneak into Sweden.

Like I said before, Fake ID and stealing benefits is not something that has only just happened with al-Shammari. It has happened before and will happen again, all we can hope is the authorities are quick to get onto this and start prosecution proceedings.
