Trump to impose $7.5 billion Tariffs on EU on 18th October

Idiots do idiotic things.

errhh.............nope.

The Welsh vote to leave was actually slightly higher than the total UK one.

That was not my understanding.

You don't have a new deal with Canada and Mexico yet, and the one on the table isn't a great deal different from NAFTA. Basically Trump got the same deal Obama had under the TPP that Trump bailed on.
Regarding NAFTA, the previous administrations were Reagan who negotiated the Canada-America Free Trade Agreement and Bush Sr. who wanted Mexico brought on board, so what you're saying is two previous GOP Presidents wanted to harm the US economy.
Face it. Your boy can't do diddly-squat.

No interested in your biased opinion.

The fact remains, these deals have been negotiated. Unlike you, I didn't apply any warped ideological bias when I used the words "previous administrations".

Why didn't you mention the Clinton Administration? Leaving them out erases any reason to consider you opinions. That just the work of a blind ideologue.

Yeah, same as Boeing (respectively the US) has been found just as guilty by the WTO.

But kudos for presenting just that one side of the story that best fits your narrative.

Post the findings from the WTO like I did. Your opinion is worthless.

i think you'll find next year WTO will find the US even more guilty than the EU in subsidies to Boeing ............~
Errhh, not next year, seeing how that's already happened this year (March).

What has not happened yet is that the EU, clearly in the hope of negotiating an amiable settlement, has so far not requested the right to impose punitive measures. Which, in their scope but not in their actual imposition, would have to be permitted by the WTO.

As they no doubt will be, just as the EU no doubt will now proceed with tabling them with the WTO.

I don't give a damn over what you hold my opinion to be, just as I don't give a damn over posts such as your above.

Fact remains that the WTO has also ruled Boeing to have received unlawful subsidies.

WTO has still to respond to another case regarding Boeing next year lodged by the EU on $23 billion in US subsidies to Boeing

what has turned into the biggest case in the WTO’s history. After accepting the U.S. claims, the trade body this week authorized the new tariffs as a remedy; the EU’s case will most likely be decided next year.

Wales voted against Brexit, as did Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Wales voted for Brexit but Welsh Independence movement is on the rise and if the Labour party (The largest party in Wales) get on board anything could happen

Funny how when warned that trump would get us into trade wars with all our major trade partners the trump supporters said it would not happen. Now that we are in them his supporters now call it genius. This method of renegotiating trade deals will eventually cause major damage to this nations long term economic outlook, heck some sectors of our economy are already feeling the effects. Face it folks if one were trying to destroy the economy they could not do better than trump is doing today. My guess is the damage done may already be too late to correct and more Americans will start feeling the pain in 2020. Hopefully the American People will come to the realization that this Nation cannot weather another four years of trump and will vote is butt out of office next year. It is going take Decades to fix the damage trump has done to our relationships with our trade and military partners and even then it is doubtful we will ever regain the trust that has been lost due to his actions. My guess is that it will be a long time before we ever see another Republican sitting in the oval office after trump is gone. Vote or get the government you deserve.

he has steered America on a path that will be hard for future American presidents will find many of his trade actions has support from many democrats and the same goes for EU countries levels of funding for NATO targets ... to deviate from these stances will bring accusations of weakness/surrendering to competing economies ... what i've come to realise about America in my 49 years on this planet ... America deals in absolutes .. i'm not saying it's a god or a bad thing

The Clinton Administration? The only involvement there was the final signing of the agreement negotiated by the Bush administration. NAFTA was Bush Sr.'s baby 100% but they couldn't quite get to the final signing so that happened early in Clinton.

"Chrétien subsequently negotiated two supplemental agreements with Bush, who had subverted the LAC advisory process and worked to "fast track" the signing prior to the end of his term, ran out of time and had to pass the required ratification and signing of the implementation law to incoming president Bill Clinton."

another front opens ....... 10% tariffs on Airbus Aircraft and 25% tariffs on Scottish and Irish Whisky among other goods ... EU to retaliate ...also talks that the moratorium on car tariffs ends on November if the car tariffs go ahead on EU car manufacturers ... the gloves will come off ... you can never win a war on two fronts Hitler and co learned there lesson ... and America is about to learn theres

But since we are losing in trade, we can only win in a trade war.

So to you, it's all the Republicans fault. Clinton was forced to sign NAFTA, even when his wife said he shouldn't.

You understand that just erased your credibility, don't you?

I don't get it. Why do you guys who disagree with these tariffs want us to lose more high paying manufacturing jobs to cheap overseas labor?

Don't expect those $20+/hr jobs to ever return if you allow other countries to manufacture more and more for us.

NAFTA was a good thing to sign, and it pisses me off that Trump wants to get rid of it. It's the free trade agreements that Clinton signed after NAFTA that should have never been signed.

Mexico and Canada are immediate bordering nations. I knew we would take a small impact in the USA with NAFTA, but it would have helped Mexico build their nation. We would have far less illegal immigrants today had NAFTA not been undercut by Malaysia, China, India, Vietnam, etc.

President Clinton destroyed our economy.

Can't agree with you about NAFTA, but I do agree with you about Clinton and the many treaties that followed. Worse agreements ever.

The US gave away our leadership role, and we've been paying the price every since.

The President is doing something about that.

you seriously think you can win a trade war nurse ... the truth is you do not manufacture enough goods that are in demand world wide your cars are to big, uneconomical and ugly

you do realise EU car manufactures don't just manufacture cars for the US market in America .. but also the Chinese market, Asian, Canadian and South American markets employing hundreds of thousands of US workers those jobs will move back to europe to supply our other markets to replace US markets for our cars ..

The EU AV taxes already are tilted against America, particularly the ridiculous way they add value for tax purposes to processed foods based on ingredients and ratios of glucose to sucrose, etc. Their retaliation will be of little difference to the US.

not entirely true ... Welsh first Minister (Labour) said they will follow Scotland if/when we leave the UK they said they would campaign heavily for Independence ... support for Welsh Independence stands at 34% according to the last polls seen ... keep in mind support for Scottish Independence was at 26% in 2012 and if it wasn't for the vow (which was never delivered in any part) Scotland would be a Independent country by now

I've lived in Wales and you've probably also seen the news broadcasts from Wales. For some reason, Wales sees its future outside the EU despite the fact of EU investment in Wales.
Scotland is a different case, Scottish Nationalism is very sophisticated and has a real goal and aim for what it wants. I've never really felt that in Wales apart from an anger against the EU and the EU businesses based in Wales.

Wales voted against Brexit, as did Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Sorry, you're wrong.

England - Leave 53.4%
Wales - Leave 52.5%

Scotland - Remain 62.0%
Northern Ireland - Remain 55.8%

~ Fact remains that the WTO has also ruled Boeing to have received unlawful subsidies ~

It's actually the easiest fact check anyone with a minimum of two brain cells could carry out. The WTO has actually approved tit-for-tat tariffs by both sides. Selective memory methinks, selective reading for sure.

Yeah well, I don't engage with such posters for all that long anyway.

It's like arguing with someone insisting that 1 plus 1 equals 3.
