    Boris Johnson's Brother Resigns

NPR | Boris Johnson's Brother Resigns From U.K. Parliament Over Brexit

Jo Johnson: "It's time to move on"

Jo Johnson, brother of Boris Johnson.

    9/5/19
Jo Johnson, the brother of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has resigned from Parliament, in the latest sign of Brexit turmoil. Jo Johnson says that in recent weeks he has been "torn between family loyalty and the national interest" and that he is stepping down from his roles as both a government minister and a member of Parliament. "It's an unresolvable tension," Jo Johnson said in a tweet, "and time for others to take on my roles as MP & Minister. #overandout" Jo Johnson had been a member of Parliament for Orpington, a district on the southeast of London, since 2010. This is the second time Jo Johnson has taken a very public stand over Brexit. Last year, he stepped down from Theresa May's government in protest of the withdrawal agreement she negotiated with the European Union. In 2016, the two brothers were on opposite sides of the referendum, with Boris pushing to leave the EU and Jo in favor of remaining.
Sometimes it's best just to walk away.

I didn't read the whole article but the part you quoted seems to indicate that he stepped down from government a year ago. Why does he keep getting involved in government f his "go to" response to controversy is to step down?

I expect the first was leaving the Conservative Party, not leaving his role as MP. Now he is resigning as MP

Nope. He left as minister but got back in after his brother got elected.

Seems the guy's political spine is made, primarily, of jellied eels.

No, he stepped down from Theresa May's government, but remained a MP.

He stepped down from government a year ago because of differences with then PM May. He didn't resign from Parliament.

Since Boris excommunicated Jo and all the Conservatives who voted against him, he may have felt that he couldn't represent his constituents honestly. They elected him as a Conservative and deserve representation from a Conservative, which he no longer is.
